by pramod on Jul 07, 2006 12:55 AM  Permalink

Why cant the govt leave the profit making PSU alone. They are providing job for so many people and paying well. They r making a profit also. Why tinker with it? Is the govt here to make quick bucks by selling stakes?

Wher is te PM's authority
by Raghavan on Jul 07, 2006 12:54 AM  Permalink

The PM's Authority is in ARIVALAYAM now. He has only inexperienced ministers in his cabinet. The alliance is taking advantage of the weakness of congress and is successfully damaging its image with its own help (congress itself is co-operating in the effort of the DMK to eradicate it forgetting the fact that DMK itself came to power because of the folly and admency and insensivity of the congress Party iitself ).congress refuses to learn from experience- lack of talent and tactics is the cause of its owes. It fails to assess the character of its company and their behaviour and is afraid of dealing with them firmly to refuse to damage its own image for the sake of its selfish parasitic allies.Instad of loosing face and respect of the public , it can voluntarily and willingly opt out of power and surely redeem its image , and expose the callousness of the allies. The congress would do well to resign ,when the allies compel it to implement anti-national policies. It should also desist from policies the allies use to damage its damag. The Congress is in the company of its foes. Not friends. It needs some talented politicians which it lacks now. It is breeding its parasites now.

Why this bias??
by Sunny on Jul 07, 2006 12:42 AM  Permalink

The disinvestment of a public sector industry would hurt thousands only while caste based reservation would affect millions. But still the leaders are ready to take care of the former and not care for the latter. Why this bias??

Is it because the govt. is setting up living hell for Indians of future generations??

What Authority?
by Sunil Unnikrishnan on Jul 07, 2006 12:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

He never had one from day one. He is the weakest PM ever. Where was his authority taming Health Minister- Anbumani Ramadoss on the whole AIIMS drama. Where was his authority when formulating Office of Profit bill which sole purpose is to protect congress MP's...Doesn't make sense to talk more about him at this point.

RE: Don't want to work? Go to Govt company
by Sas on Jul 08, 2006 12:47 PM  Permalink
Obviously private company will fire you if you don't do your work properly. People who do not want to work ,go late to office, come early....go for strike for every small and non-sense issue can only oppose disvestment.

You are looking at few crores of profit? Just think if we work properly it can be in billions...that's the reason even after having so many good govt. owned companies (in furtune 500), we donot have lot of profit...?

We should think to earn more and spend more..not to earn less and spend less.

Wow great !!
by ms.candy on Jul 07, 2006 12:32 AM  Permalink

I am glad that divestment is on hold now. Nothing like it. Private companies are extremely ruthless when it comes to employees. When there is a loss incurred, most of these companies retrench their employees even without a second thought. I know of people who have been asked to leave jobs in their mid-fifties. Its a tremondouss loss. Government should not encourage divestment.

Act Now
by Arun Govindan on Jul 07, 2006 12:26 AM  Permalink

Eventhough our PM has already announced freezing up of disinvestment process, he still has a chance to show who the boss is. Fire Health Minister Dr Anbumani or atleast ask him to back off. I don't think the DMK front can blackmail on a daily basis. Having used their quoto of blackmail, shouldn't they be waiting atleast a month before they use it again?

As far as disinvestment process in concerned, PM has to convene a All-Party meeting and let everybody accept an "on-TV" debate on it. And cutting across the party lines, those who are for and against it should be known to everybody. And based on the majority decision, let PM take a stand. He may have to do it maultiple rounds before getting majority support let alone arriving at concensus. This way People of India get more knowledge of the issue and who's who on this.
