democracy and logic is getting dim in India
by Anand S Upadhayay on Jul 05, 2006 05:03 PM  Permalink

The step of removal is the most surprising decision i heard in my life ....it seems now india dont need people who say and tell what they feel is logocally correct.Keeping soft stand agianst anti reservation is a logcal decsion where director knew exactly what he was doing ...he was allowing democracy to have a breath ...unfortunate step and should be crticized stronlgy

AIIMS director dismissed.
by Raghavan on Jul 05, 2006 05:02 PM  Permalink

Even assuming that the action against this official is considered right , the decision is prejudicial as , it is prejudged/ premedidated and not based on justice or fairness. This only shows the highandedness of imature politicians. It looks very childish and exposes lack of maturity on the part of persons in charge of Government. the present government is looks to be veryheadlong in so many fronts , it seems that it will establish an unmistakable example of what type of Government , the people of this Governemtn should be very careful not to elect at any time. In a way it is good for the country that this government at least gives a lesson of what should be avoided by the people while casting heir vote in future. It is an irony that what is to be really dismissed in the country still remains .

Down Anbumani
by Ramki on Jul 05, 2006 04:59 PM  Permalink

Autocratic minister just like his millitant father. In the name of caste, he and his father Ramdoss are holding tamilnadu and central government to a ransom. AIMS doctors should unite and go for a indefinite strike and ask nothing less than removal of Anbumani.

This a huge set back to the research fraternity's
by Samuel on Jul 05, 2006 04:56 PM  Permalink

Never raise your voice even if your views are sensible.. you would be removed. Politicians think they are the one who knows everything in our country... Today it is AIMS .. who knows what next is. it could be any of IIT's, IIM's or IISc... People should give a fitting reply to this government in the next elections. Even god cannot save us.

Dr.Venugopal
by RC Nair on Jul 05, 2006 04:55 PM  Permalink

Director of a prestigeous institutions like AIIMS should not be treated like this. The minister should not interfers about the functioning of the institute. What is the PM doing? First he should sack his minister.

Where is democracy?
by Kalyan Chakravarthy on Jul 05, 2006 04:54 PM  Permalink

It is every citizen's right to support what he feels is right. Just because Dr.Venugopal was soft over anti-reservation guys, the recommendation to sack him is totally outrageous! Why doesn't the commitee sack Dr.Ramadoss? I guess the reason here is that Ramadoss belongs to some reserved class, and Venugopal doesn't? Where is our country heading to? These irresponsible actions by totally irresponsible people are comdemnable, and not appreciated by any section of the society!!! These get termed as "Vendetta Politics".

The hypocritic oath.
by Chandra Shekar on Jul 05, 2006 04:52 PM  Permalink

This a long overdue and welcome step though one hears that the AIIMS Doctors have yet again resorted to their usual pressure tactics of Strike. In this mess the patients are being held to ransom and, given that there is no healthcare available to the poorest of the poor anyway, this strike can only hurt the middle and upper classes.

If anything these events underline the importance of ensuring that quotas allow OBC doctors to emerge who are more likely to focus on treating patients rather than FC docs who only want to save/ further their careers and do not hesitate to sacrifice lives to achieve their petty goals. The 'merit' that they speak of only serves to ensure their continued wellbeing.. all else be DAMNED.

by narayan on Jul 05, 2006 04:51 PM  Permalink

the hnble minister is at it again. a past master at taking non issues and making a bIG deal.
from the past:
1. his political party is against english titles for tamil films (wonder why hec alls himself dr. shpuld have been called the local equivalent)
2. smoking ban in movies
3. cola-endorsement by celebrity issue
4. the anit- reservation strike and his rather famous pose , supposedly looking after patients.
..and now this!. the issue is peronal, if not political for the good minister. if he could have his will, he would secure 69% reservation for his caste in AIIMS...
a time will come when the general public, go for medical treatments, ask doctors caste and qualifyuing marks for MBBS and other P.G. coursess...and then decide if u need to get yourself treated by him/her....as for the minister, am sure he would go to U.S and get himself treated....great india!!!

by Rajesh kumar on Jul 05, 2006 04:47 PM  Permalink

It is just a case of showing supermacy of Politicians over the professionals.
