Disaster
by Vipul Sharma on Jul 05, 2006 11:25 AM  Permalink

Its pathetic. After last years fiasco one would have imagined that so called fastest developing economy "India" would have taken strong steps to avoid embarrassing itself in front of whole world not to mention its own people.

mumbai rain
by roshansingh on Jul 05, 2006 11:20 AM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

Its almost an year after mumbai suffered the disaster due to heavy rain last year, again repeating this year too.

We common people does not still understand what the precautions authorities are taking to prevent the disasters and loss of life?

I must say the authorities should take concrete steps towards avoiding such untoward incedents. Other wise every year during mansoon this will become a common head lines of heavy rain and loss of lives.

Concerned authorities wake up at least now...think of our future generation and act fast before they can blame us.

Dont blame the water clogging only due to use of plastic bags. Think on the facts and ground realities like what the elected members, politicians are serving to their area in the name of developments.

PRECAUTION IS BETTER THAN PREVENTION.

god only can help common man

Not airports but drainage is priority.
by Bagmar Satish C. A. on Jul 05, 2006 11:00 AM  Permalink

The speed with which airport modernisation by privatising profit making AAI with precious big land is in itself a serious breach of cMP.But what is serious is what all top leaders of state are doing for saving mumbai a commercial capital of nation fetching 36 % of revenue of country? Pawar is virtual super C. M, of state for last decade,he dreams to be p. m. but never opened mouth in parliament over mumbai.Balasaheb is uncrowened king of Mumbai controlling 6000 crores Mumbai corporations for years and he had remote control of state govt for one term and had 4 central ministers too for 6 years. Late Mahajan was no 3 of Vajpeyee cabinet.Chandrababu Naidu could compell Vajpeyee govt for Hydrabad but such great Maharashtra are in deep sleep only. These leaders are unethically and opportunistically join hand to elect Bajaj to Rajyasabha but have no will to work collectively for Mumbai is most desasterous for country.

THE RAINS CANNOT DETER MUMBAI SPIRIT!!!!!!
by Harish N. on Jul 05, 2006 09:34 AM  Permalink

Hi there....

Well I have left for my office.. and reached too. But frankly speaking, I donot know whether I will reach home safely. Today Morning, it was very much visible that people didnt dare to get out of their homes seeing the traffic on roads. There was hardly any autorickshaws visible as they didnt dare challenge the angry torrential rains. But, still there are many who are enjoying the rains and it was visible at Powai Lake where many people were sort of camping to enjoy the view of the flooded lake. Also, in Aarey Colony, there were areas where waters of Mithi River were flooding the road but people were enjoying the water there too. Its good that the state has declared holiday for school and colleges today. It would be nice if offices too follow suit.... Finally, all readers just enjoy the Mumbai Monsoons. Its sort of become habitual now and dont complain about any authorities doing their job. Mumbai needs water seeing its vast increasing population and we are lucky that thanks to these inevitable rains we donot face any water supply cuts in contrast to out counterpart metros. So, Have a safe and great monsoon. Sit at home and Enjoy the Fifa World Cup semis and finale.
