Failures of managers!
by B.Gautam on Jul 06, 2006 06:55 PM  Permalink

Various failures of the nation undoubtedly go to prove to a substantial measure of brain drain in the so called top authorities in charge of the particular fields in question!
These authorities whether in private or public services as they are almost same, though few vested interests try to hype private institutions, are appointed at such crucial posts to manage any crisis with many facilities at their tip of the fingers! Only academic qualifications will never help management of such public issues!
As they are either I.A.S., I.R.S., I.F.S., M.B.A., M.C.A., etc., or any other degree or multi degree holders also from foreign countries, they cannot sit with spiraling excuses but to rise to the occasion to really manage the crisis with the help of their own acquired talent and skill by the help of knowledge and experience using their wisdom and intellect!
The top posts are meant only for those who are dynamic and capable enough to tap all the resources at short notice to tackle the crisis tactfully to bring results in flying colours!
Present top authorities are good at table works, sitting in the air conditioned rooms without the desired field experiences in the place of work! This absence of field knowledge and their ego are entirely responsible for their cutting blank even in times of emergencies! They get confounded when they face a crisis due to absence of their field experience! Due to such absence of field experience that needs updated every moment, they totally depend upon their subordinates who take them for a ride in absence of judicial decisions!
Only solution is that the degrees such as I.A.S., etc., should be awarded only after at least ten years of purposeful, result producing and successful career, to be strictly monitored thereafter too for success in the same measure, any failure to be suitably dealt by demotion etc., Otherwise ignorance to tackle field issues will prevail for ever leading to chaos every where as is the case at present!

Lear from other countries
by Ashish on Jul 05, 2006 01:17 PM  Permalink

This problem is quite old, people of mumbai had been suffering from many years.

The authorities should learn from countries like Singapore, the technique of sewage system. You can experience the same kind of rains in singapore but never see problem of water clogging.

by VS on Jul 05, 2006 11:19 AM  Permalink

We people know only to blame others. Now Mumbai is unable to take load of such huge population due to immigrants. The people who pay taxes is divided with those poor people also who don't pay any taxes at all. Think if my point is valid.

All politicians are corrupt....
by Anil on Jul 05, 2006 10:59 AM  Permalink

Why again it has repeated. Where the money has gone.........Everybody can say in the pockets of Politicians and Bureacrates. Govt. awards contract of road and other work to those contractors who are giving enough bribe to them. Why not Mumbaikar wake up and kick away those politicians out of City. Because these people will seat in their home and only give interviews.... They do'nt work at all. Its all the matter of highest tax paying city in the Country........ AND you are facing such problems.. No one to support the poor people. So...... Its time for Public to have revolution and do some active work for those politicians.

Rain in Mumbai
by raghava on Jul 05, 2006 10:59 AM  Permalink

Hi, The administration is mainly responsible for this, as this kind of things should not happen after such a mess last year, what is the government doing regarding this, itseems they have not done anything for the past one year, asking people to sit in homes is a ridiculous solution, that situation should not arise at all.
hopefully after seeing these replies the administration wakesup and does something.

WAKEUP GUYS

Mumbai in jaws of death
by sanjeev on Jul 05, 2006 10:55 AM  Permalink

Mumbai's main problem is corrupt politicians. The city needs an infrastructure which is only possible to build with proper funding and good government. Least can be done until the corruption stops. I think the Mumbai's infrastructure just cant keep up with growing population.
