Why we blame the BMC ?
by Rajesh Choudhari on Jul 04, 2006 05:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hey guys,,,

Why do u blame BMC for the high tide... didnt u all have seen that many areas which were flooded last year are now not flooded, also would like to say that the reason for water logging is HIGH TIDE if you people understand that.. the water logged in drains or lakes and rivers cannot flow thru the channel due to high tide...

Stop blamming...

Rajesh Choudhari - well past the high tide hours the waters did not recede. Why not blame the BMC ?? Choked drains not cleaned by Municipal goons (country bumkins, all) who use contractors to line their pockets. Let's privatise the Municipality and put in in the hands the hands of BOMBAY FIRST, now.

horrible
by hanoz on Jul 04, 2006 05:29 PM  Permalink

people of bombay face this situation every year yet there is no initiative from municipal authorities to improve the condition.
we call it a city of 21st century but in fact bombay is becoming worst as compared to other cities where infrastructure is improving very fast.
people also have a tendency to forget the things very fast. no none would be bothered to work at ground level after the rains and similar conditions would arise nexy year.

what a fuss......................

BMC - What are you doing?????
by Samir Virani on Jul 04, 2006 05:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is to the BMC that what are they doing? After going thru all last year they have still not done anything...forget improving the infrastructure they are more into digging roads and leaving them half done which adds fuel to fire.. I think we as Citizens Should really take a sep forward and write to the minister (Who also is doing nothing apart from attending Award nights)... Guys Lets draft a letter, get it signed and send it to our PM and if required to the President...We shall give it in Times of India and Mumbai mirror with our signs...

RE:BMC - What are you doing????? (original Mumbaikar)

All are getting problem due to heavy rain. Do you think there was no such a heavy rain before 20-25 years.and there was any problem like this.but why now? Due you Know what is the population of Mumbai incresed? How many buildings, slums, factories? How many cement concrete roads? shopping malls ? also reclamed area? etc.
there are 4.5 lakhs people are staying per 1 sq kilometer in Mumbai. where as 20-30 thousand in other big city.Ultimately this problems has to face everybody and that to more whoever original form Mumbai.is there any benifits goes to this original Mumbaikar.is any low rate will offer to origianl Mubaikar?is there any separate bus or train or tickets discounts offer to origianal Mubaikar?

There is no Fresh Air,no space in train,no house in his original place.(or in discount rates.)

insted of that when Hevy rain comes he has to stay at home with unpaid leave or he has to loose somthing in flood water.thats means he has to get releif fund or tax benefit in particular monsoon months.
I think there will be worst and worst will come after every year.

black rains
by Hanoz on Jul 04, 2006 05:22 PM  Permalink

history repeats itself.
civic authorities have done nothing to tackle such situation. this is inspite of repeated heavy rains every year.
poor sivil infrastructure and lack ofaplanning leads to crisis like this.
shame........

reg: Mumbai rain woes
by subash on Jul 04, 2006 04:55 PM  Permalink

Hi,

Mumbai the financial hub being paralysed by Mother Nature's fury has become a routine news. The politicians and majority of the bureaucracy care two hoots about the common man problem. It is time for self help groups such as Residence Welfare Association to find a solution for local problems at the grass root levels.

Also, there seems to be too much focus on woes of Major cities. Its time rediff focus on rain effects with a larger state / country focus!!

Is Goverment is Sleeping ?
by Vikas Talekar on Jul 04, 2006 04:52 PM  Permalink

Whats going on in mumbai ? you are planning to go for METRO TRAIN in mumbai . From last year you are not able to give solution to mumbai RAIN. last year on western highway their was more water only before mahim bridge. but becuase of that 2 km road whole andheri to dadar road was close. So many vehicles damages..

Goverment is impossible . please dont go for METRO TRAIN. first try to give some solution to MUMBAI RAIN.
