Pathetic, the indian railways do not learn from past experience and everyone has to suffer year after year. Can we rise to international standards?

MUmbai paralyse due to rain
by C H Ravi on Jul 04, 2006 07:47 PM  Permalink

Dismantle the Mumbai Muncipal Corporation and remove the Octroi system at First. Merge the Corporation into Maharashtra State as a Single District. Give the Administration to the State Goverment and the City to be looked after by a District Collector. Remove the Octroi barrier in the city and entire state of maharashta. Once the Barrier of Octroi is removed every industrial and commeccial activity can be moved to much wider area of Thana and Raigad District

total system failure : : ab kuch to sikho
by Mrugesh on Jul 04, 2006 07:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is d 2nd time mumbaikar's facing this situation. But still the BMC/Govt has failed to give right info & help to every1. Even just to get popularity/attention and to run 24 hr news channel, media also covers news whr Govt/BMC failed.

I don't think, not a single person in mumbai who gets help from all these entities to make the right decision in such worst situation.

CAN THIS HAPPEN IN KOLKATA/DELHI
by Jam Azmi on Jul 04, 2006 07:19 PM  Permalink

The rains have created havoc in Mumbai for many years now. It is only that the media has brought the issue to light after 26/7. Mumbaikars are basically cowards, scared of the establishment and can only fight if somebody strong leads them . They have no initiative of their own to take on the establishment.

The Mumbai Municipal corporation is establishment which is the most corrupt.

So Mumbaikars deserves this for what they are.

CAN THIS HAPPEN IN KOLKATA/DELHI? THE PUBLIC WILL TEAR THESE PEOPLE & THEIR POLITICS APART.

BMC Disaster Management
by Ranjeet Vaishnav on Jul 04, 2006 07:10 PM  Permalink

BMC's Disaster Management Cell's sole activity: Send SMSes to people so that they stay at home. This way they ensure that people don't go to work / school / elsewhere and avoid getting stuck.

There is still no process or plan in place to:
(1) avoid/reduce water logging,
(2) ensure that the roads don't get washed off every year rains
(3) trains don't stop running
(4) airport / runway does not get flooded!

Mumbaikar's have been shortcharged by successive governments and the living conditions are going from bad to worse!

hi everybody there,
how long do we see the blame game. is there no way out to the sufferings to the? agrred, we can\'t overcome natural dissaters, but then we should try honestly to make it tollerable for which one and all need to contribute. make voices, form opinion and bring pressure on all the concerned. surely the positive effect will be visible
