Wrong info
by sunil on Jul 05, 2006 10:30 AM  Permalink

You have written in the article that,

"Services on the city's lifeline, the Central and Western Railway, were badly affected by the rain for most of Tuesday. By 1600 hours, both lines had resumed services"

But do you think so, its true? Ask me i was there on Dadar station, westren railway was operational only on Fast Track towards virar up to 5.30pm.

Also on Central Railways train between Dadar and CST were not running at all and announcer said that until next information it wont be running and this was at 5.40PM.

how can someone give this news that Trains were on schedule or resumed their seriveces. Is that what News meant for you and people who are going to follow that?

Also i am completely agree with Alankar, that not only Authorities but we also, common commuters are responsible, Thorwing garbage on Street which in turn blocks the way of Water to pass and what to mention, ofcourse we need better services from authorities but are we prepare to use it.we must learn to use it.We must follow do's and dont's strictly. We blame people but let ask everyone how much they have taken efforts to prevent the same. Betetr Service will only bear Fruits with better Use. Kudos..

Heavy rains paralyse Mumbai
by Nirpinder Singh on Jul 05, 2006 07:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It seems that all of us in the rest of India, instead of envying Mumbaites, should instead admire their grit and courage at living in a place where they are subject to the whims of Nature in so brutal a fashion. Heaven forbid, if rains have this effect what would happen ia a Cyclonic storm hits Mumabai?

Incidentally, where were the Shiv Sainiks who so adamantly want to save Mumbai for the native Mumbaikars, during all this time of trial? Do they save their best merely for Goonda Gardi?

In Mumbai where Shiv Sena rules the roost should get down to earth and do something concrete for the citizens of Mumbai. The rains wrought havoc last year
and if any lessons have been learnt then a lot of measures should have been forthcoming from the Government. The citizens will also chip in and cooperate if they realize that for a change the Shiv Sena is really thinking about their welfare.

Every politician like Deshmukh they are saying that situation is under control & they are fully prepared for any situation. I think these guys are still waiting for the real flood like last year which cause lot of problems & loss of money.

by Prasann on Jul 05, 2006 02:27 AM  Permalink

Dear All Mumbaians

These natural disasters can not be avoided by blaming autorities or politicians or any third parties, by doing so they are encoraged to take advantage out of this issues. We have to come over such disasters by understanding our mother nature and educating people around you by taking necessory precations.
To be frankly mumbai's geographical strucure saved the mumbai from so havy rain fall not by politician or any othorities.
