reservation policy is right in india
by Guest on Oct 15, 2008 05:39 PM  Permalink

what about the abuse which the so-called lower caste i.e scheduled caste have suffered from ages?this reservation policy is helping them to rise up their education level.then why stop it?india has majority of population contituting scheduled caste ,schedule tribe and obc .if these classes are backward then we can perfectly say that india is a backward country.

What kind of opportunities you are talking of!!!

If someone would have read the Interview of Arjun Singh with Karan Thapar, he would know the exact motive of this government in implementing the reservation policy. There was no solid evidence with Arjun Singh which may prove that he has enough support of data showing backwardness of so-called backward communities in India. He has just one sentence to repeat for every question "its obvious that OBCs are backward". Francois Gautier has done a good research and has shown the guts of bringing to the public a fact long ignored and deliberately hidden. This is what should be called a true journalism. Today journalism in India is just like politics. As leaders work for their vote bank, journalists work for their cash bank and show what is later found to be false. Today's journalists show only single side of the coin and try to prove that what they believe to be true is like a universal fact.

But they don't have as many opportunities as higher castes
by subasha prasad on Aug 21, 2006 06:51 AM  Permalink

i believe after doing quite some research that the dalits and other backward classes do need some support and what the govt. is doing is fair. for decades they have been discriminated against and have NEVER had the opportunities of those of brahmans and other upper classes. how can they enter uni when they have had no education?? if you spent one week as a dalit then maybe you might come to understand.

By this argument, since gujarat is the most industrilaized state, we must all follow th gujarat model of society as well (where muslims are ghettoised). Is that okay?

Dear Vasumathi2,
I don't know how Gujarat comes into picture? If you mean Gujarat riots then Gujaratis are and were considered good businessmen even before riots. In fact Gujaratis, Rajsthanis are the Vaishyas of new age India as they specialize in Business activity all over India. About hatred between the communities in picture, well it has been there pre and post independence and the political policies since independence have only suppressed those feelings. As far as riots are considered, it is because of these feelings of hatred which are not allowed to come out otherwise, if you allow the society to be more free in religios dialogue will all sections taking part then there is less chance of it coming out through riots or jehadi activity.
