Poor Hindus!
by Prakash on Feb 03, 2006 05:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am pained to read the critism of our "HINDU" friends on this cloumn, questioning the roots of the writer.
First appreciate the man for letting us know our state of affairs as we have not time to think about ourselves.
This status explains, why Christianity is growing in a world of Hindus

Not to worry, hindu/eastern thoughts are also making deep inroads into western world, the balance is always there.

As such, globalisation means westernisation. Hence its okay for all of india to accept Christianity. By that time most of the world wud have accepted Hindu/Eastern spiritual thoughts, so then we will have our great white masters advocating the same christianity with eastern twist.

So eitherway its a win win situation, let the money flow, its like this, since hindu kings could not keep barbarians at bay, they gave way to british, so most of the hindu monuments are protected today, and most of the hindu relics and studies are still intact. So there is nothing to worry about., this dharma is the most flexible dharma. Look at chinese how they have made use of the dharma, look at japanese and koreans how they have made use of dharma - which again has roots in hindu or sanatan thoughts.

Infact if ur smart, get more and more people to know what sanatan dharma is all about, even at the cost of commercialisation. No point sitting and watching the these colums eitherway.

As such hindus are glorified slaves of the system, first come out of that tag!!!

Well said Mr Siva - I have very similar feeling that this man is trying to break up India, by spewing hatred !! In fact he started with cricket during his earlier articles, but that did not evoke enough response. I have posted several times earlier that he has a hidden agenda - you hit the nail on the head. This man has no feeling for Hindus or India, and would like to see a tormented India !! Lets take him head on !! Rediff being a respected site and celeberating 10th anniversary, should be more careful to allow use of its platform for such trouble makers. He is anti India - period !!!!!

Ignorance is BLISS
by UDP on Feb 03, 2006 10:38 AM  Permalink

Problems with Indians is they fear truth and want to leave in world of dreams.
India is emerging superpower!
India has best brains in the world!
India is a great tourist destination!
India is world's biggest democracy!
To Indians it may sound real, but to others it is just another pj.

agree and disagree
by sumved on Feb 03, 2006 03:25 AM  Permalink

I agree with you in many ways, but I also disagree with you and those who have posted comments. Fact: it is a shame that we cannot find an Indian to lead us. Fact: over the past years, India\'s enemies have grown stronger and the steps taken by us are a step short of being a weak hearted attempt to make ourselves feel better about how secure we are. Fact: Hinduism is not a religion-it is a way of life. I do not have guidelines laid out infront of me to follow in order to call myself a Hindu. However, this is also a drawback of Hinduism. Over the years, the interest in the Hindu culture and the history of India, which is not only Hindu, has gone down tremedously. Be it the Vedas, Bhagwat Geeta or the Epics-the interest in these topics, within our own border has take a beating. This is indeed disturbing. Regardless of whether Hindus are under threat by other religions or even countries, they are under threat from themselves first. Thus, the nature of Hinduism being a way of life-not inforced-is inherently the beauty and the bain of Hindus and this dilemma will haunt India and its political and social infrastructure long after you, me or Sonia Gandhi long after we are gone.

Be at peace - Gautier

FRANK!!

Hey, i dont look u as from west or east,'all reside on the globe.

Ur points are fine as its ur minds projection.

Don'wory about the ancient wisdom of bharat getting degenerated. Simply because they have been well preserved in univ's abroad.

If Indians dont want it, there are others who can do re-research on Ayurveda, Cymatics and similar. Its a vast field, Ultimately world will be helped. And that will dawn upon degenerated hindus or whoever.

Take for example yoga industry, though ventured out by Vivek, Paramahansa Yogananda, Maharishi and more recently B K Iyengar, Pattabi Jois and Ravishankar, it has entered to the places unventurable like Saudi nations or even Crotia or Kenya. And today we have bevy of Western teachers in Yoga and Spirituality who have combined the Pragmatics of west & Philosophy of east with ease. Today this industry is worth 200b USD!

When it comes to conversions, why worry, there are many who are embracing hindu/east non casteist ideals in the west. Am sure it will be balanced. Infact the most recent news i heard was that even Mother Teresa Found'n is going in for YOGA which once was a taboo for the

BTW Sonia is just fulcrum!

AUM AMEN AMEEN :)

Mr. Francois lot of your concerns are valid. But what you have to see is a big country trying to stick to democracy. What I couldnt digest is your portrayal of 2 of the best persons India has currently as just another Sikh and a Muslim. Leave anything what I perceive is that my PM and President are honest fellows. Im happy that such learned persons are still there in the dangerous murky waters where sharks like Laloo, Mulayam, Jayalalitha, Mayawati tread. As an educated person Im even afraid of being near to any politicians, even the local netas. One more thing I know is that Sonia even if she is involved or not involved in Bofors kickbacks will not sell the country to our enemies but the same cant be said about Laloo or Jayalalitha. The moment you give some money they may sell the country lock and barrel to any soul.

don't Christians deserve office
by Daisy Cutter on Feb 02, 2006 08:28 AM  Permalink

Chrisitans are very much Indian citizens and not like the author of this column who is a foriegner. Chriatians are very much loyal to the country than the author of this column. They deserve all offices in the country. There is nothing wrong if there are 5 chief ministers in the country. as long as they are democratically elected no one need to worry

Francis Goutier
by jrprthe on Feb 02, 2006 07:08 AM  Permalink

What are the main points raised by Francis Goutier in a loosely worded, mischievous racist article First he says he is born Westerner and thus, by implication, enjoys an inherent right to comment This is un-intellectual, racist and stupid
What are a few direct and occult signs of Sonias indirect ruling
Three direct results are (1) Political scandals of Q affair and Volcker Report Every Indian now knows that Corruption has permeated entire Political class and so called Hindu parties are no exception (2) Importance to unreliable Musharraf We all know that it was Vajpayeeji who by inviting him to talks, started the process of legitimizing his rule. When Pakistanis are far away from democracy, whom do we deal with? Are we not dealing with Mynammar?(3) Due to Communists, we are pushing Nepal to China This is a highly prejudiced view. This is not how things work What happened when Tibet was taken over? - Geopolitical trends should not be brought down to such ridiculously naïve levels
Three Occult signs he talks about are (1) Christian conversions Democratic freedoms imply right to choose your faith. Terrible effects of Caste and gender based discriminations are hitting us, There is no mention and hence no need for correction according to Mr Goutier (2) Rapid Westernization Does Mr Goutier want us to return to pre 1947 days, so that, his fellow racists can rule us again? (3) Ramdev and Kanchi affairs We have a rule of law in this country Let us have unbiased investigations and prosecutions if required.
The word GURU implies one who removes Darkness. Today all Swamis, Babas, Gurudevs, Acharyas have one common feature. They all are RICH. All of them are fooling public for their own benefit. There is nothing Hindu or cultural about it. Adi Shankaracharya said these are different gimmicks for begging.
A Guru who teaches Prnayam and Kriyas en masse without regard to Ashtang yoga, A Sanyasi who is jailed and wants a Brahmin to cook his food, A Swami who calls each one an embodiment of Divine and then divides and groups of people by race and money, A Vshwa Hindu organization controlled by high caste individuals, A temple which distinguishes visitors by amount they pay for Darshan - Are these signs of progress or decay?
Why is Mr Gautier trying to reintroduce the dark ages of Hinduism? Where is an enquiry towards self introspection?
Correct yourself Mr Goutier, otherwise, new India will ignore you

We have had enough of the Hindu fundamentalism!
by pip on Feb 02, 2006 06:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Francois makes a few good statements, eg:
"Yet, if you have a look at most of the mainstream English-speaking Indian magazines and newspapers today, you will notice that all their cover stories deal with Western concepts, that they are looking at India from a Western point of view, such as talking about 'New Age' spirituality. As if spirituality is new to India!" --------- AMEN!!!

But, we already have had enough of this fundamentalist thoughts running aournd the country and we don't want another one to point it out. We call ourselves as a republic due to our heritage and culture being so diverse, and an Indian is an Indian no matter what his/her religion is. So, are you trying to say that the minority cannot hold high level positions in the government? Or, are you trying to make yourself a name out of this? Whatever it is we did not want a person not of Indian origin (even one who has lived there for 30 years) to tell us how much power Hindus/Muslims/Sikhs can have. We already have the BIG bunch of loosers - RSS/BJP - doing it for us! thank you

ps: I was born a Hindu too, but I look at all people as one and the same.

Hinduism
by Raghu on Feb 02, 2006 05:11 AM  Permalink

I agree that Hindu's are losing their face in India day by day. But most of the HIndu's are not seriously wrorried about. That is the saddest part . I think the Hindu ideologists shoudl start a campaign and educate the people for the interest of Hinduism. Also a political resolution should pass not to occupy top posts of the constitution and country.
Why only Hindu's are easily getting converted to other religion ? we should really think for the root cause..
