Palestinian Elections
by Ramesh on Jan 28, 2006 12:09 PM  Permalink

If the Palestinian people have elected Hamas, to lead their country, then that is what they belive the best for them. If the outside world & international community thinks that Hamas is a terror set-up, then we have to think twice before passing such a judgement. Palestine people very well know that, over the years, Hamas has resorted to violence for securing freedom and occupied territories. If, inspite of that, they chose Hamas, then let us find out the real reason behind such a choice. It also means that the peaceful process has become heavily loaded against the Palestine. The election result also points the finger, that the so called International Policing nations' approach to the whole issue is heavily biased. Hence the best course of action open to the International Community, is to accept the result without any prejudice, allay their fears, win their confidence and try to bring the Hamas to negotiating table.

Hamas is a terrorist outfit
by nickel on Jan 27, 2006 10:45 PM  Permalink

India's decision is simple. Hamas shouldn't be supported. It is a un-ashamedly millitant outfit that admittedly supports mass killings of innocent civilians.
This is a fact that Hamas itselft admits.

I reject the idea presented in the article that India needs to prostrate herself before the Arab countries in order to get their oil.
Take for example the US is openly supportive of Israel, yet it gets all the oil it needs from the Arab countries. US businesses practically own Saudi Arabia. If the US can look after its own interests, and get all the oil it needs from the Arabs, then why can't India.
