Lack of preparedness has been putting India in a tight spot always
by Alok on Jan 30, 2006 01:01 PM  Permalink

Every other country has clear studies made for different regions and issues and has special teams and univiersities working on them. They have got clear defined policies and guidelines for their politicians and bureaucrats to act. This enables them to decide in tight spots.
State of India regarding this seems not too good. Even in cases where such studies and policies exist our authorities/policitians may be lacking their knowledge and make callous statements and decisions.
We should learn these good things from others. We need to improve.

DEMOCRACY WINS
by Hanif Mohammed on Jan 30, 2006 12:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Author has labelled Hamas as terrorist, and no where it is mentioned that Palestinians were freedom fighters, to regain their land back from Israel. I would call them 'freedom fighters' rather than terrorist. Fateh led by Yasser Arafat, was corrupt and squandered the dreams of Palestinians, and their options was to go with hardliners, looking for change - and that too in an election supervised by the West to ensure democractic values. These people have suffered for too long, and cycle of history is turning in their favour now. Israel, with American backing is the agressor here, and I cannot understand why this writer is potraying the Palestinians as terrorist. In history, anywhere in the world, you cannot opress and destroy a population for too long, because freedom fighters are born naturally to reverse and confront the aggressor. Taking a look back, Israel should have been satisfied that they got a land for themselves, but their selfish motive to capture more land and annahilate the Palestinians from their own soil, have created this trouble. Thank our stars that Americans and British, did not thrust these settlers in our land !! Probably we would have been branded as .....

RE: HAMAS IS A TERRORIST ORGANISATION
by secular indian on Feb 06, 2006 02:38 AM  Permalink
RE: Msg from Hanif:

HAMAS IS A TERRORIST ORGANISATION.

Violence of any form is an act of Terrorism.

Any body who calls this type of Violence as fighting for freedom, is called Taliban.

Unfortunately in India a section of Muslims do not condemn this type of Violence and their silence is an approval of such terrorism. This is precisely the Reason, why to-day, Terrorism has become synonim to Muslim and Muslim is Synonim to Terrorism/Taliban, world over.

At least, if you live in Secular Democratic Country like India, you shd condemn all types of Terrorism (killing innocent persons, taking Law in your own hands, etc...) unless you are a TALIBAN.

For now, it does not seem like they want to talk using their political position. They are going to use their official position to fight against Israel and cause terrorism.

new perspective
by suneel chakravarty on Jan 28, 2006 04:37 PM  Permalink

Indeed the Hamas win poses a difficult question to the world which is facing `terrorist` threats more frequently than ever. While the verdict of palestinians should be respected, what happens if the terror organizations across the world choose and then win the elecorate? The political situation in Kashmir is different, but what happens if any terror outfit wins elections and takes over office?

Hamas win, lose of humanity
by rommi on Jan 28, 2006 01:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has to change its policies now as one can not imagine the support for Hamas (a terriorist group). Even Hamas win is going to divide whole world in two parts. India should take its course against terriorist groups whether its Al Queda, Lashekra or Hamas.

Here we are great indians again on intellectual crossroad. In terms if Freedom we openly supporst israel which is the only Illegal country formed by atrocities and snatched land in 21st century and which again and again disobeys the so called UN, but we still are freinds with it and we support it too. and as Palestine is a muslim country with genuine problems still we oppose it. We are INDIANS.

Hamas and US
by nad on Jan 28, 2006 12:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Arab world at least the people of Arab Nations understood the policies of US long before, hence the victory of Hamas movement speaks for it self. US on one hand hypocritically promote Democracy and on the other hand exterminate it for their own selfish cause. They are trying to fool Asians and they did it many times. If we dont understand them now then we have to go through the atrocities and war which they are imposing one by one on us.

So, now the poeple who do not even have the guts to identify themselves with their names are defending those who openly promote and participate in terrorism! Mind you, were it not for the US, palestine would never have been a reality and it should and would have been annihilated.
Long live Israel.

Focus on your own issues
by RAKESH RAINA on Jan 28, 2006 12:11 PM  Permalink

These politicians tend to give unnecessary attention to whatever is foreign. Rather than paying attenion to developmental issues at home, they mislead public by glib talk and "phoren" issues. Let anybody win in any country, why are we worried. There are still people in India who are not sure Kashmir is part of India , least have visited that part.
Pl. put your house in order first.

Regards
R.Raina
