if you see the results closely, there was no rane factor in rajapur and sangameshwar. sena lost because the traditional sena votes got divided. so it is utter foolish to say that sena was routed. they lost quite gracefully. remember uddhav was fighting with his back to the wall.
The defeat of Sena candidates was expected, but if one sees the margin of defeats, one thing is quite evident -- that contrary to the claims made by Narayan Rane that the Sena is finished in the Konkan belt, the party is trying to regroup under Uddhav's leadership.
The Sena has suffered the bolts of rebellion from all the quarters and now is looking to launch itself under a single leadership. It will take some time for the party cadre to settle down and start a fresh inning.
The real test for Uddhav will be the Mumbai civic polls slated in the year 2007. It is his chance to prove that he is a force to reckon with in the Maharashtra political scenario.
Sena's days are numbered. Its popularity started declining long back with its inception of criminal elements.Sena never achived 2/3 of popularity inspite making politics of Marathi manus. There were 100s of issues on which Sena could have won and worked to solve problems. But its leaders and workers were both interested in money, extorion. Its Love with BJP was too responsible.Religion was never Sena's agenda.Bal T introduced it just to encash the votes. He succeeded too but you can't fool people everytime.
