I think Rahul wants to come up only on the basis of his family as there are many leaders in who have the same experience even more than Rahul then why it is only Rahul only b'coz he belongs to Gandhi family. It is discusting!!! dirty family. dirty thinking!!!
Whether Rahul or someone, the party requires young blood to lead at the helm. The advantage for Rahul is that he can be identified with the great family, which has done lot to the country despite many shortcomings. In the today's thec ountry not only need a strong government but also a strong ruling party. Congress should also separate the leadership of government and party.
I think Rahul Gandhi has a that calibre which will bring the congress in the hindihearland. He knows that only sitting at sophasticated office person can not achieve the power. One has to go to villages and understand the problem of the poor.
By making non-entities like Sonia and Rahul torch bearers of a national political party, with the naive assumption that they are the answers to India's plight, Congress is but showing us the void and hollowness it is filled with. May i ask, but for the privileged surname who is this Priyanka, Rahul or for that matter Sonia ?
I always thought that theives in Congress always needed the Gandhi umbrella to thrive. Without the Gandhi umbrella it is like congress without its current emblem. So they have proven to be a party of a family rather than party of the Indians, by Indians and for Indians. Rahul Gandhi is being rightly preserved for a later date to be launched. He is not corrupt enough...! But these oldies who need assistance to walk into their ministerial offices are already feeling the pressure and hence the talk of Rahul leading from the front. We in India must if we have not learnt learn to vote someone on the issues he is talking rather than who seeded his birth. What a pity...poor congressmen are slowly putting into words that they are in power wherever they are purely because of the number politics.
The congress strategy, though a flawed one, of leaving the top position for the gandhi family has worked till now. We have seen that the leaders fight among themselves but are obedient to the boss (one of the dynasty). Nobody fights for the top slot.
This is not the case in BJP. Though one would like the political parties to have a pure democratic setup, this kind of a fights for the important positions (since the politicians resort to every possible trick) doesnt look well from outside.
In that sense, the (eventual) replacement of Sonia by Rahul may not change the situation much. But his inexperience will definitely exposed and more if the BJP can set its house in order and fight as a unit. But I think sonia gandhi would like to guide till that time.
The problem with Indian politics is that there is a serious lack of good political leaders. People dont have options and they try every option in a cycle. You just have to wait for your turn. Once u get that, u can claim the credit for that. This is exactly what Sonia has done. Similarly Rahul can also wait for his slot of success and rise in stature.
This is what is going to happen unless we get some good leadership.
Personalised Politics is not good for a Party or for the Country of billion citizens. Rajiv Gandhi came with huge majority and proved to be a disaster. Sycophancy is not democracy and it has been proved several times. The Congress people are surely in fool's paradise.
They take four years to train an officer for the army before granting him an officer's commission. And he starts by being given the command of a platoon i.e. approximately 30 men. And here "psychophants Inc" want to induct Rahul Gandhi into the top echelons of a so called venerable, 120 years old political party, responsible for running the affairs of millions. What qualifications does he have for the job, besides , being a scion of the Nehru/ Gandhi family?
