Rahul Gandhi is, no doubt, the answer to every Congressman's woes, who have lived on reflected glory of Nehru family (Gandhi name would confuse people with Mahatm Gandhi, so we better not use it). and crave for a feudal head of this feudalist party. But, surely, he is no the answer for India. A person whose only claim to fame is his family, needs to work at grassroot level for some more time to understand Bharat part of India. But, to expect Congressmen to understand this important lesson is too much to expect!
I dont understand why people have to talk in terms of sycopancy,in relation to the Gandhi family. With the mindset of being in a Zamindari atmosphere all of us take it as natural to look at the next generation with expectations. Most states are in the grips of similar situations. So why ONLY single out Gandhi family.Coming to the other aspects of leadership, LOOKS do matter, and it is also a fact that Rahul and many of the second generation politicians are carrying the mantle from their parents, and have a natural behavior of "By Manor Born".I cant say the same about many other of the leaders from other parties. Why do we NOT say the same about the Rajmata side of Gwalior? Is it not sycopancy also in the case of Vasundhara? I dont think the normal Indian understands the meaning of sycopancy. But they do have veneration for persons whose parents have done something for them.Be it Vasudharas or Rahuls.Let us all wish that THESE NEW leaders give the POSITIVE parts in administrative, cultural, social and moral aspects.Lets not waste our time in discussing sycopancy etc.Give the people of India more credit for their intelligence and choice,be it a Rahul or Vasundhara.
Dear Sir In India name is what counts the most and merit comes last. Be it politics or any other sphere of life.Never mind the aptitude or inclination of a person to do a job at hand as long as he /she has the right lineage nothing else matters.Mostpolitical parties in India are run aspersonalfiefdoms.Congress party is no exception, in fact it started Dynastic politics and the other parties were qick to follow suit.Congress is a party of sycophants and a Congressman's position in the party is directly proportional to his equation with the Gandhi in power at that time. Now we have the latest Gandhi on the block.A young man who has no experience in politics but carries the burden of a famous surname. He is being pressuried by the cotorie and the sycophants to take more responsibilities(read AICC general secretary). The congressmen believe that the Gandhi family is the answer to all the problems facing the party. To think that Rahul Gandhi will be able to restore the fortunes of the party is to live in a fools paradise. It would be better if the congressmen concentrate on the wellbeing of their electorate and leave Rahul Gandhi to make his own decision.
Is Rahul the answer? and Is Rahul GANDHI the answer? I believe these two questions are really diffrent. Except from being from a family which did every wrongful deed to remain in the power(I exclude Rajiv Gandhi- I believe he was a person who wanted progress for the country),a family which gifted us with a corrupt system, a family which gifted us the biggest democratic shame(emergency),He have not shown any good thing till now. It is only because of congress culture(culture of flattery and slave mentality) that this question is open for discussion. We need to think who is Rahul? Do we know him? Has he done something like a leader at his own?
Enough of this one family where the members have given us more head aches as a nation than progress. UN ivolvement in Kashmir, Alienantion of the Sikhs, Losses in Sri Lanka, Turning Bangladesh into an enemy the list is endless not forgetting the fracas of sterilisation by Sanajay Gandhi and the Emergency imposition by Indira Gandhi. Why do we have to keep begging this family for more failures. there are a lot of people who have come up the hard way give them a chance. Quit being a slave dynasty memeber and treating the nation as a personal fiefdom of a handful family members. It is about time the chairmanship of the Rajeev gandhi foundation and its cash pile is given to more qualified people. Dr Abdul Kalam is an example of what we can be if we look for dedicated and qualified persons
The way congress has functioned in last 60 years goes on to say a lot about how will it behave if Rahul becomes party president. As an outsider it always seemed that the party has taken ideas-decisions flowing from top leadership and/or their coterie. Unlike BJP(not Jansangh) or CPM it has been more or less a single focal point party (till 90s). We see that unipolar distribution returning to shape even now under Sonia. This either shows rest of the party politicians doesn't have an universal acceptance or Nehru-Indira-Rajeev lineage is exceptional in leadership. The second case however is less likely to be true. That was my first point. Secondly, Rahul will quieten the voice of opposition over the foreigner issue. Thirdly, we can see some young sophisticated(psuede) blood infused to the party lately; so it will gel quite well within it. The grassroot workers did not have much problems with the family. So according to me if Rahul takes over, he's morelikely to succeed atleast initially.
