In defence of Hindu Gurus
by Raja P.C.Deo Bhanj (Ex-MP) on Jan 12, 2006 12:46 AM  Permalink

It is an act of stupidity to write off all the Hindu Gurus as charlatans who are trying to exploit the innocent Hindus. Here I shall talk of my guru the most revered Swami Ranganathananda,President of The Ramakrishna Mission (Worldwide),who attained mahasamadhi last year, at the age of 98 years at Belur, the headquarters of The Ramakrishna Mission. Those of us who have had the good fortune of listening to his eloquent lectures on The Vedanda,The Bhagavad Gita and on practically every subject one can think of and reading the books written by his facile pen, feel that it was our good fortune to have listened to the advice given by such a world-renowned spiritual scholar in such simple English, which everybody understood. He travelled round the world more than 40 times, lecturing how the modern man can attain peace of mind and spirit by reading the various ancient books written by Hindu rishis thousands of years ago.Not only did he spoke on Hinduism,as a true devotee of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa,he said that every faith,be it Hinduism,Christianity or Islam were only different paths to that one Supreme Goal, whom all of us belonging to every religion address as GOD, by different names.

in defence of Hindusim

I fully agree with you that Indian Communists are the number 1 enemy of Hinduism. We have, for long considered it to be Muslims, but they are not. It is these reds whose sole objective is to destroy this religion as it does not fit with their concept of intellectualism. they are starting the process of this cleansing in the name of fighting communalism. I am sure that Hinduism, which has survived so many centuries, will again come out an outright victor against an ideology which did not last even a century.

Novel Idea
by prem on Jan 11, 2006 08:02 PM  Permalink

This is a great idea but my friend it is India and as you mentioned in your article, it will be very difficult (but not impossible) to unit all the gurus and form a forum. Remember, this democratic country has supreme court and all these judges and off course politician will be against such a novel idea. The need today is definitely to unit and re-store the dignity and spread Hinduism but instead of doing so we are fighting each others. I still don't understand why can't our people think in this way & why can't our gurus, who have profound knowledge, come together. Again there will be fight among ourselves that who wants to be in that forum of gurus. Each sect, region, area, or even caste will suggest that their guru should be nominated for the forum. It is no doubt novel idea but need more thinking and I must appreciate your thoughts here. Somebody should convey this to our leaders. I doubt they could be reading Rediff -:).

For hindu gurus......................
by Nikhil on Jan 11, 2006 07:47 PM  Permalink

Great, simply great and excellent

Very few words but dont have any other words to appreciate the article posted, it covers all the things, but wuld like to tell that, if, some gurus have some of facilities which a spiritual leader is not suppose to have, they dnt take it on their own wish, its because on diff. places the comunnions they organize in this faster world they have to use it, e.g.:- cars or planes (we may say this are not meant for saints but understan that a guru having comunnions organized at diff. places on short span of time have to use this luxuries)...

And yes their shuld be some council set up for this...
