what else one can expect but a brilliant article articulating the greatness and weakness of Hinduism and lot of empathy for its condition in its homeland. But one need not worry likes of Brinda karat as many such have come from Auranzeb to Periyar to current CM of TN.But their diatribe and hatred has strengthened this great religion. One should keep thank Gautier for his good and thought provoking articles.

to Mr.Curious person... narendra modi doesnt make up hinduism..nor does gujarat.....what america is doing in aghan and iraq represents christianity? a curious question... hindusim or hindus NEVER preached killing other for the sake of religion...(unlike church in mide viel period) but then a gujarat happens..a robert stein happens..that doesnt take away hinduisms tolerance level...or magnanimity! you really want me to narrate christian atrocities???? hinduisms tolerance level helped your ancestors to convert for that sack of rice or for that "tapioca" piece ...(since you are from kerala). hinduisms tolerence helped forigners to come and preach their religion and convert. ours is the only religion which says (krishna in bhagavatgita) "dont look down on others if they dont pray to me....i exists in diffrent forms....in dffrent names.....you all are ptraying to the same person" get over the gujarat hangover....and try to read more.

What happened in Gujrat might not be 'hinduism', but it definitely happened in the name of hinduism.. when people were murdering and slaughtering other people, they were chanting slogans praising ram and shiva. And it seems your only defence of these actions is 'so what, the christians are bad too' .. who said they were good, who defended the war in afgan and iraq.. do hindus have some kind of an inferiority complex? And oh yes, the Krishna quote is inded helpful, when only one para before that you are looking down on someone just because he is from kerela.. if people from a country that belongs to me and you have to convert their faith, something that is dear to all, for rice , then it is shame on you and me, and not them..

Well since Pooja is going hammer and tongs at Hinduism its time to remind her and others like her(?) that many things good and bad have happened in the name of Hinduism.
When its attacked on all fronts by elements within and without, something will give way and that reaction was the what happened in Gujarat but then if you take it as a benchmark and keep on parroting the same words over and over again it loses its relevance..you got it??
Reg conversion, no we do not lay all the blame on the convertees but the ppl(nuns and priests) who convert them and how..trapping them by giving inducements like cash, grains etc..and when...every Sunday when the convertees finish listening to the sermons.. this I know personally..is this the way you are taught to respect and love your God ??
Finally I have to ask all Hindus to be aware of this precious inheritance which is ours and see that it remains in India aka Hindustan forever...

Pooja, infact that is the only incident against HInduism. We can quote million times more against Christianity like holocaste in Germany. It was done in the name of christianity. Slavery where Baptist churches actively took part in US as well as Africa(Ask Bishop TUTU). About Islam the amount of plundering and loot and killing HIndus faced in their hands. Even noew in OPakistan and Bangla Desh HIndus are finished. Who is tere to take care of them. Muslims are very well gaurded in India. MOdi oincidence took place which was not any different from Skh killing by the congress inspired people. Apart from Modi can you mention anything else against Hindus?
yes,it is true.ms. karat must see her it from a diffrent persepective.she has appraisals for minority spiritual leaders, she has her hearts for the iranian (so called peaceful atom bombs--only she d explain how an oil reach country d use atomic power as PEACEFUL but not against ISRAEL) its tragic indian communists were the first to oppose indian nuclear explosions.may be to them to oppose the populaar things is the only way to gain cheap popularity.
Sirs, I write about the author of this article, Mr. Francois Gautier. I like this guy. He knows the pulse of India, its culture and spirit better than our Western-educated, cola-sipping, hip-hop, tradition-and-culture-removed Indian technocrats, theocrats and bureaucrats who will sell India without any qualms if they can make a profit without hurting their conscience. Mr. Francois Gautier is a truer-blooded Indophile, nay "Bharatiya"(he has every moral right to be called a Bharatiya), and has the essence of the Indian pulse beating in him. I saw some really shallow and stupid comments made about him by some lesser mortals ("Indians")... Wake up from the delusion, my friends! Being born & educated in today's technological India doesn't automatically make you a "Bharatiya" at heart. That would take wisdom and an interest into a deeper reality, born out of rich experiences in life that is not solely an Indian-born-and-bred's prerogative. Dr N Pradeep Kumar, MD, M.Med.Sci(UK)
Hi I think much water has flown down the rivers of the world after this story. The Art of Living Silver Jubilee & then inaugaration of Patanjali Yog Peeth saw Ramdevji & Sri Sri like Brothers in arms which is the beauty of Vedanta. Actually to use the term Hindu I would dare say is quite retro as the Vedas are the oldest spiritual tradition in the world & the only ones subject to questioning as the Masters/Gurus encourage learning through enquiry. Plus they also provide room for updating the knowledge according to time & place & social environment. So I think a world awreness about a personalized spirituality & holistic well being as propounded by Masters from Vivekananda to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar along with its specific applications in the field of curing physical ailments (chiefly) as being propounded by Ramdev in the true spirit of Vedanta will pave the way for a real Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The moment people realize that there is but One Universal Spirit & there are different Gurus who guide one to it & every one has the right to implement that knowledge on their own selves & to talk about it to others like we do about other things in life then even these fights won't matter.
It is time to unite, and to be strong, and to defend our culture being trampled by who ever comes to India to settle down.
Marx / Lenin / Mao are the greatest enemies of a free world, a democratic world. They have spread their poison in Bengal and Kerala. We will need to stop them there. Perhaps some day some sense will come back to those intellectual states. May be they will better in future.
By Standing united, we need to mow down the great evil called Maoism.
We need respect, and we have to be respected atleast in our motherland. I'd like to forget a cartoon published some where else in the world. I'd like to stop debating supporting Hamas; and supporting the Srilankan Buddhists againts our Hindu brothers of the land. I'd like my Hindu beliefs to be respected in atleast in India.
FG has clearly highlighted the deficiency Hinduism is suffering from, that is Unity among ourselves from "EXTERNAL ATTACK". And he has suggested a means to achive this unity. It is upto the Heads of various sects to discuss how to achive this unity, if not, there won't be any Hinduism left in the next century. Some people may laugh whenever anybody say that there is danger to Hinduism, but when you look at how we have lost various territory of our motherland and how the communists and congress are hell bent upon distorting our history and thereby distroy our culture, the day may not be too far when our great culture will become extinct.
