Gurus
by rrsharma on Jan 10, 2006 11:55 AM  Permalink

I wish I could meet the writer and thank him for his views. The so-called greats today are hyped by the media and need to learn the basics of being great. \"Respect the elders\" is one of the simple principles our so-called \"greats\" today need to learn and understand. It does not come from any religion. Religion instead comes from it. Indian culture is based on such perennially proven principles and values. Communists, the people with no base, should better remain within themselves and do some soul searching to retract from where they have been. They need not venture into maligning the estabslished persons of any religion. It is always better to become taller than a tall person to prove that he was less tall. Cutting him short to prove you are taller is not the right way. Brinda Karat does not stand a chance today to be compared with Ramdev Guru. Let her leave this person in peace. If he is fooling the masses, he will certainly pay for his mistakes one day. May be, the masses that follow him today will chase him away if they do not find him working for them. I sympathise with Brinda for her adventurism.

In defence of Hindu Gurus
by U.Kalpagam on Jan 10, 2006 11:51 AM  Permalink

Hinduism is not in danger and will survive for years to come in the future as it has in the past. It is resilient and flexible enough to accomodate divergent perspectives. A Supreme Council to issue edicts for all Hindus is neither desirable nor necessary. With policisation of religion, edicts will become like fatwas issued by Mullahs. Such disciplining goes against Hinduism that allows each to realize divinity in his own way. It will breed intolerance among Hindus.

frankly frank a neo convert is always a zealot
by abhishek on Jan 10, 2006 11:49 AM  Permalink

Hey Frank,
A neo-convert always tries to erase his memory and glorify his choice, ask malik kafur if you get a chance. If you would please sprinkle some amount of rationality in your writings they would make sense else another ejection of rock hard dogmas.
