Article on ''in defence of Hindu Gurus
by Sreeraman T. S on Jan 10, 2006 01:21 PM  Permalink

Only a person with a chocolate or a buring ember in his mouth knows its effect: sweet or burning! this is because he 'realises' it.
A beholder howsoever shared the effect can never appreciate the sweetness of a chocolate or the burn of hot ember!
Your article is superbly worded and I can but classify the ignorance of those who never attempt to 'realise' the wonderful way a superpower has created us and given us abundant natural surroundings & herbal wealth to take care as we grow along - including the divine vegetables!
Hats off to you. C. Rajagopalachary, the famed "Rajaji" has once said that to believe that God does not exist - is ignorance.
To unrealised soul-their focus remains just on superstition & other religious pranks-while the 'real' truth is so very mystic like the 'air' around us. We need it, scoff at it, cry foul when we are sick, remain cheerful when it blows pleasantly but have we seen it??

Oppurtunistic Guru
by paradigmshift on Jan 10, 2006 01:17 PM  Permalink

U seem to have been waiting for such an oppurtunity since ages. You go to the other extreme of Making all the gurus as GODS .
Brinda Karat and you sound pretty much the same to me ,just that both of you are on opposite poles. But its a balance that keeps life going not extremeism.
Ayurveda is great but why does Ramdev have to hide the fact that it has got bones. This time its Bones. What if it was some poisonous thing which might be harmful on the long run.Just because he is a Hindu Guru Does he have the right to use whatever he wants. Is he above laws of society. Please have an unbiased opinion on issues and dont be oppurtunistic.

Totally agree!
by rakesh on Jan 10, 2006 12:50 PM  Permalink

Dear Francois Gautier, I totally totally agree with your views. Its time the hindu leaders come together for the survival and preservance of Hinduism. Only a united hinduism can survive the increasing challenges hinduism and hindus are facing.

fact to be known
by Osti on Jan 10, 2006 12:30 PM  Permalink

Whoever had written this article had not gone through the whole truth against the Swami RamaDev case.
Karat says the Ayurveda is not wrong or a crap ...The only thing she says is the medicine whatever Swami RamaDev given was not according the norms of the Ayurveda medicines prescribed by the GOVT of INDIA.This shows that the users whoever using it are not aware of the ingredients that is being used. Therefore there should be a neutral way of finding the truth about the medicine. Then the author was too much concerned abt the Hinduism.I appreciate his concern.According to me hinduism is a science rather than a religion, this is my way of thinking kindly excuse me if it hurts any one. There are many who makes money becos of the ignorance of the ppl which should be avoided. Therefore it is the ppl who had to differentiate between the good and bad.Since human is the only species who is having the 6th sense. Therefore it is mandatory for the ppl to use the 6th sense to differentiate the good or bad. There are ppl who use the religion as a cover to earn money, spread terror, etc... there fore it is the alertness of the ppl which could enable them to face such situations.

My view
by Praveen on Jan 10, 2006 12:28 PM  Permalink

Interesting article..! I agree with your views but there some points which I would like to make in context of your suggestion. Not necessarily to override your suggestions but the facts presented with different perspective. But there are few things of hinduism which one must understand. This religion is not about grouping people to follow a certain path by one leader. It was not built on philosophy of one person. And if you look back into its ethos you will realise that vedas and upanishads even though were against each other, they co-exist as part of hindu philosophy. Similarly different gurus can have different paths and certain people may follow certain.
While the disunity can be looked as disadvantage, it is this disunity or I would say the democraticness within the religion which makes us democracy lovers. While British might have talked about constitution but the success of largest democracy comes from within (philosophy) of co-existence with contradictions.

The root cause
by Motilal Nayak on Jan 10, 2006 12:09 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir/Madam,

The artical is excellent in brief. It is warning bell to whole HINDU COMMUNITY.

root cause:

1.Date back from centuries, various caste/class system in HINDU COMMUNITY creating barriers and hence the different opinions among/against each other, leading to the adverse situations till date.

2.Some of the Hindu gurus(I don't want to mention names)creating new religious class/community which believes they are NOT HINDUS.

3.Truth is eternel, hence VEDAS ansd HINDUISM,so Hindu gurus should not misinterprete them in their own ways and should not lead to form different class/community.

Future of Hinduism:

Future of Hinduism requires great understanding of
knowledge in its true form and sharing.

The Hindu gurus must practice at all level with common objectievs.

Motilal Nayak.

Thanks Rediff
by Venkatesh on Jan 10, 2006 12:06 PM  Permalink

In the world, western thought are hailed as asset by media and It was good idea to present the article in Rediff.
The author calls for unity is the need for the hour but it is practically impossible for these gurus to unite. Though it has nothing to do with their ego, but it has more to do with the religion that they have practised. Hindu religion believes in individual following his dharma rather than a group to take up a cause. The rituals and practices preaches not be indualistic in your mind be independent in your action. this is the reason why froup like RSS or VHP can never come mainstream, as they can never have mass acceptance.
The religion has survived inspite of leaders, but there work stand long after they had left the scene.
