Temple entry for Non-Hindus
by Parmesh on Jan 05, 2006 04:40 AM  Permalink

Hinduism recognizes that all religions are pathways to the Supreme. Nowhere in the Puranas, Vedas or Upanishads have there been any pointers for keeping non-Hindus from our places of worship. We have to take this up with the so-called 'trustees' of our faith. Sri Namboodiri deserves full cooperation from Hindus all over the world.

How ironical it is that Yesudas's voice reverberates throughout Guruvayoor, sining praises of Lord Krishna, and he is denied entry. This is religious fanaticism, and this has absolutely no place in Hinduism.

all power to the likes of Sri Namboodiri for breaking down the artificial barriers. Rajeev is totally within his bounds, when he talks about the Christian and Muslim transgressions. But by opening our doors to people of other faiths, we are not diluting the purity of our temples. as Hindus, we should protect our Dharma and faith against fundamentalism with all the force at our command. Likewise, we also need to fight the demons in our backyard, and not measure our behaviour by their yardstick.

Discriminatory
by Indian_Analyst on Jan 05, 2006 04:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am hurt that we still practice these discriminatory policies. This is very shameful.

The priests have killed hinduism. What is so pure in us that will get impure by allowing our own brothers in the temple ?

I will never visit a temple that discriminates against humans.

That is Saudi's problem which is a hardcore islamic nation. We do not have any such restrictions in India and we need not be concerned about Saudi's policies

why so hue cry ??

Even Islamic countries (e.g Saudi Arabia) doesn't allow
other religion people to visit their shrines/mosques.
Saudi Arabia doesn't even allow practicing their
religion (if other than islam) , doesn't allow their holly scriptures/books to be kept with them.

Are you going to appose it ? But if some temple in some province of Kerla in India doesnn't allow it, you have
problems.

Leave Hindus alone...
by PV Rao on Jan 05, 2006 03:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't understand why the communists are persecuting Hindus again in Kerala. Hindusim is soon disappearing in Kerala..there were more than 19000 temples in Kerala begining of 20th century, now there are hardly couple thousand. The temples are slowly being converted to Churches and Mosques, which is okay for the communists.. People of Kerala need to kick out the comminists who think Secularism is freedom from Hinduism, rather than freedom of religion. So what next? if you allow non Hindus in Gurvayoor..they will then complain that the Hindus don't let non Hindus do pooja..then they will complain Hindus don't let non Hindus do Abhishekam etc., If you don't believe in Sanatan DHarm then just don't go to the temple..Do you let a Hindu go and preach in a Church or a Mosque? think about that...

Narayan has only 10 avatars and not 24.

right and wrong maybe......
by Hemang on Jan 05, 2006 02:27 AM  Permalink

The priests are absolutely correct in saying that Jains and Buddhists are Hindu since Bhagwan Buddha and Bhagwan Rishabhdev are noted as two of Narayn's 24 avatars....
But whether banning others fromentering is neccessary...?

Entry in temples to non-Hindus
by Umesh Vora on Jan 05, 2006 01:37 AM  Permalink

It is funny that even in this century Hinduism or its priests bar entry to non-Hindus in its temples in India.

In USA, however, priests coming from India open the doors of the temple / Ashrams to non-hindus.

Is my religion that bars non-Hinus to enter Hindu Temples or is it the priests in Hindu religion who are having double standards.

No wonder Hindus who are classed as untouchables convert!
