You have cited certain examples where the US media has shown responsibility and restraint in not blowing up a terrorist situation into a full blown crisis. But there are plenty of cases where the US media has unnecessarily created panic in the masses after 9/11.
The situation in South India as you say might not be new, but unless appropriate media coverage is not given, people will never know the extent of the terrorist attack.
First of all it is clear that they are targeting the most important places of India and South India is rising nicely and most of the population is well educated. Country\'s economy is growing well with the help of South India, hence it is their target.Further in Delhi the security is quite tight, though they are targeting off and on. Secondly, it is senseless to say that jihadi activities have increased after babri demolition, this version is nothing but to divert the issue. Further, most of the terrorist groups seem to be supported by some of the political groups, hence they are getting prosperity, which may be looked into. JK Sharma
I agree with the author. The media especially the english news channels seem to go overboard on the latest attack in Bangalore. Infact in one of the channels the newsreporter was continously harping "why IISC? Why not a Wipro or Infosys?" ... which sounded very disgusting to me. These guys seems to put ideas into the minds of terrorists. While what happened in Bangalore is shocking, as a resident of Bangalore I don't see it as threat to peace in Bangalore, it didn't not in any affect the life in Bangalore. These TV channels sole motive is to increase their ratings which will ring in more money for them ... they are as much a threat to the security of this country as the terrorists are.
Dear sir, I liked article very much. But why should acountry india think like America. Because there political system and press is currept like ours Thanks
excellent article. precise and encompassing all the aspects. shows how important the citizens participation and the highlighting the significance of jounalistic responsibilities
India can't be defeated now, n why.. Just giving one example(there are numerous): India has 15,000 to 20,000 tonnes of gold. If we sell only 10% of it n buy arms just imagin what we can do.
An eye opening article with all the inside out. Any way demoralizing India as a whole won't be possible for any force in the world. India can be shocked for a second but it can not be defeated now.
Ouote"When they carry out their national agenda, they act at the behest of the ISI, which wants them to collect intelligence and destabilise the South. When they carry out their pan-Islamic religious agenda, they act at the behest of the International Islamic Front formed by Osama bin Laden in 1998, of which they are members.
The IIF wants to create an Islamic Caliphate across the Muslim world, or Ummah" unouote. Don't you think our power hungry politicians are also aiding these designs by appeasement. skj
