We do have reservations in MP and MLA seats for SCs and STs. We
don't need reservation for OBCs since they win because of being
majority.

the politics of reservation
by pravin on Jan 04, 2006 10:12 AM  Permalink

This move is an more blunder like the shahbano case in the past when the constitution was amended by Rajiv Gandhi govt. to avert the supreme court judgement and satisfy the MULLAHS.Once again to make the minoroties happy government has not brought the minorities institutions in the periphery of this bill.again same blunder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arjun singh should understand that how long he will damage the interest of majority. How long the majorities will keep mum.Once the majority will feel that they are being cheated, congress will loose the complete ground and it's vote bank policy will be suicidal to them.

Doctors from reservation
by pc on Jan 03, 2006 11:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Will you go to a Doctor who made to the Medical college with 35% marks and have him do yourself a By-Pass?(for that matter anything)
Whoever voted 'yes' should try it first in front of the TV cameras.

Reservation:An Illusion
by Anubhav on Jan 03, 2006 10:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This reminds me of days when VP Singh was our PM and many young people died opposing the reservations. No one bothered and nothing changed.Talented youth is being deprived of education and jobs because centuries back their ancestors did the same.Reservation was suppose to be a positive attempt to do justice and has become a way to earn votes.Politicians have already started moving towards the dismal, whole India and world hates these creatures.Yes, we being from "upper caste" want our "lower caste" brothers to get free education and jobs.We want them to be capable and make India of their dreams, our dreams. There should be no reservation based on the caste. Why if you ask because if you are rich enough, you can teach your children. So reservation should be based only on income. We all know politicians won't let that happen but if India has to compete with the world we can not do that with doctors who passed the exam with 1 mark.Hope some day we all would agree to that.

UPA's Quota and Reservation
by J.N.Mahanty on Jan 03, 2006 08:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The present Govt had more important issues to address for the progress of the Country, than the intro of Quota/Reservation, which is aimed solely for building up of Vote Bank at the expence of social justice, harmony and peace.
This Govt has already failed miserably in providing proper Primary Education for the masses in rural areas, where the school has no proper building, sanitaton, safety and no teachers.
Similarly in the internal Security front this Govt has failed miserably as the terrorists are striking at ease and setting up new camps in Southern States of AP, Karnataka and Kerala.
Apparently the Govt is very much preoccupied in designing schemes to further divide and fragment the society and tear apart the social fabric and do fishing ( build up Vote Bank) in the muddy waters, and has no time for the important issues like Primary education, internal security, drinking water supply, rural health, infrastructure development, etc.
