What should be BJP's priorities
by Prof Aggarwala Lt Col(retd) on Jan 05, 2006 02:46 PM  Permalink

I can list a few:

1. Concentrate on transparent Internal democracy. Uma Bharati's expulsion smacks of dictatorial culture, not maintenance of discipline in the party. She is a rare leader. BJP must know how to bring out the best in her. That is good leadership. Merit and performance should be rewarded
in a transparent manner.

2. Be consistent in your messages. Then and then only they create conviction. Be it Ayodhya, art 370, other BJP issues, social issues, important to your constituency.

3. Insist on true secularism as defined in the Constitution and approved by legal rulings. Highlight any discrepancy, or weakness in the Constitution and its application.

4. Insist on supremacy of regional languages in each state in education, and of both English and Hindi equally at the Center. States cannot be run efficiently if state language is neglected.

5. Give high priority to computer usage in national languages so that the poor and even uneducated have access to information.

6. Develop stable coalitions.

7. Highlight and initiate all policies related to the poor, dalits/SC/ST, and minorities.

8. Expose repeatedly mischief of opposition, especially Congress.

What should BJP do
by Raj on Jan 05, 2006 02:36 PM  Permalink

Congrats to have new President.

BJP is not just party, it has changed the whole Political system in India. Congress had monopoly and they did what they wanted, but now they are accountable just because the ghost of BJP is too big for them to handle and keeps them on their toes. BJP has turned India into two party system and people of India have choice, and if somedoes not perform throw them out of power.

I dont agree BJP is relegious, as we all know it is congress who divided India in the name of religion and above all there were more riots under congress than any other party. Congress is evil behind all these but they have succeeded in Projecting BJP as religious party to get votes spinning for them.

All those who oposed congress for so long, have come together just because BJP is a bigger threat and has not compromise on their way ruling India where they can do what ever they want by fooling innocent and naive citizens.

This your responsibility for a better India is more than the congress, and keep the party united. You need not worry about Congress or Sonia, people are very smart and they already realized their mistake of not voting in the last elections.

Ideology and idealism
by Anand on Jan 05, 2006 11:30 AM  Permalink

Shri Rajnath Singh should, in consultation with others, ask people with corrupt image to leave the party. He should ask Pramod Mahajan to resign from the party posts till he is absolved of all corruption charges (such as the latest Reliance issue). He should bring back good people like Govindacharyaji. He should focus on Integral Humanism (mainly 'dharma-rajya' and 'swadeshi').

what should Rajnath Singh do ?
by aniruddha on Jan 05, 2006 10:14 AM  Permalink

In a meaning ful democracy , viable alternative to Congress is must. Rajnath must focus on these areas :
1) Sound institution is needed, no individual glories.
2) Find honest ways to collect funds and stop any dishonest ways which are just "sting" opportunity!
3) Keep unique ideologies in abeyance till there is sustained majority - coalitions work this way only.
4) People will support for better / faster development - status quo is costly affair.
5) Improving agri & business environment is a key deliverable - but fundamentals helping job creation are more important than wasteful free schemes.E.g.: Vajpayee's highways will address bigger audience than any free electricity plans or loan melas for individuals.
