by mahendra patel on Jun 07, 2006 07:35 PM  Permalink

India, has double standard of justice one deliver on eye witnesses ,other driven by media ,secularist and self rightious NGO .Zahira and Guj.Modi govt. and people sentenced are victims of this double standard justice. There is a fact that on similar cases people of other states have been aquitted.

miscarriage of justice
by p kumar on Feb 27, 2006 04:21 AM  Permalink

Jaisingh's comments resemble the logics of people who had argued that 'the constitution failed us rather than us failing the constitution or better still things are just fine with the system'.The Judicial system in this country works on facts and thus the phrase 'andha kanoon'.It still works and is accepted because it delivers most of the time. The supreme court's involvement was not incidental; in a case like this the apex court 'will' be involved if there is a suspicion of miscarriage of justice. Also, the current verdict is not the ultimate truth and the attitude that the whole world knows who are the culprits is a system practised in countries like Saudi Arabia where instant justice has resulted in death for innocents (an Indian recently). The fact that the riots were spontaneous reaction to burning down of the train should not absolve a person or group in any way and yet it remains a 'fact' not an emotional assumption. It may also be helpful to remind oneself that the perpetrators of Godhra are still far from conviction.

what about
by Arya on Feb 26, 2006 02:02 AM  Permalink

Just wondering if anything ever happend to the people who burnt live people in the train.
was there even a case or did anybody get conviction?
Sometimes I wonder if perception among people that media, NGOs etc are biased is part of the problem.

Zahira??
by Atul on Feb 25, 2006 11:21 PM  Permalink

Well we got a semblance of justice here because the accused were not rich and powerful like manu sharma and his ilk. Zahira a victim who commited perjury may actually have to face the concequences while the 'witnessess' in the other cases enjoy life with the 'blood money' they got from the accused. Since it involves the 'R&P' even the supreme court won't do a thing.
