Completely agree with the author
by Roshni Sengupta on Feb 23, 2006 04:21 PM  Permalink

I cannot agree more with the author. I share the same thoughts about the eating of chicken. But I am not going to give it up and join the long list of those fretting about bird flu, Though momentarily, chicken has been missed. I wish others would understand this.

Further, the migratory birds flying into Gujarat have not been affected. So what is the fuss about? To me this seems like a conspiracy of the large pharma companies who want to make big buck out of selling Tamiflu and the Americans who can then export Bird-flu free chicken to us and in the process ruin the 28,000 crore indigenous poultry industry.

The importance of bird flu for me?
by Amit Kumar Srivastava on Feb 23, 2006 04:04 PM  Permalink

Whenever we hear the news of bird flu, then its the time for me and my friends to celebrate. It comes like a festival in our life because the rate of chicken and eggs goes down drastically and we boys in hostel can enjoy this by making a party. It is well proved by the doctor's that if these chickens are cooked on or above the 70 degree centigrade temperature there is no fear of bird flu. That's why i enjoy this period by eating chicken in both my lunch and dinner.

CHICKEN - I love it
by kishore on Feb 23, 2006 03:34 PM  Permalink

I am a 29-year-old guy living in hyderabad. Since the day I started earning some eight years ago till now I can challenge that I can count on my own fingers the number of chicken or egg-less days.

Many students and single men living outside their homes would say the quickest, tastiest breakfast, lunch, and dinner could only be made with chicken or egg and nothing else.

Bird-Flu or not, We are not turning our backs to the chickens that wait for the opportunity to serve our appetite and reach heaven.

Jai Chicken, Jai Hind....

why should you give it up for the time being.
by satish on Feb 23, 2006 03:19 PM  Permalink

You are right firdaus, I agree.

But then by drinking cutting at a roadside stall, you are going to get a bad tummy for 2 days, and at the worst, jaundice.

But Bird Flu is not your regular sardi-jukaam wala flu. Its got a high fatality rate. Thats why you should. Are you sure its being cooked at over 70 degree for 20 minutes.

Can you use a similar analogy for AIDS...

Foresaking Chicken
by suchitra on Feb 23, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

You are absolutely right. If we start panicking at every alarm raised by the health conscious but not healthy west, we may as well stop living. Withot chicken, we may as well repeat the Big B's words in his song in Mr Natwarlal "yeh jeena bhi koi jeena hai lallu?"
