Although Mr.Baig's "feelings" can be understood, one wonders where was he all these years when Mr Hussain's works were criticised even internationally.Either this "offer" is a "stunt" or Mr.Baig is not following the highest ideals of Hinduism.
Eitherway he deserves little praise nor attention for nudging the hindu community into his 'tribalistics' .
Remember !"Peace" is more valuable to the Nation (ie., to the hindus, moslems and all other communities here) than Mr.Baig's "putty pated paroxysms".
Even otherwise, what is the need for big fuss when our illustrious ancestors themselves sculpted many naked goddesses on temple walls . Remember yet another thing ...muslims,christians,sikhs , or buddhists in India are not aliens .Their ancestors were mostly hindus who converted for one or other reasons. So it is natural that the enlightened ones in any community (as our dear APJ)can also feel and understand hinduism very well as hindus do,barring the opposite.
It is painful to read the news items that the person who chop hands of Hussain or to behead Danish cartoonist would be rewarded. This is nothing but a war of words to instigate communal forces to do some harm to the country and to harness votes. The acts of Hussain and Danish Cartoonist are also deplorable, but it does not mean that someone extends threats of chopping their hands or heads. All this goes on because, the Governments have not initiated any legal action firstly against Hussain, who created problem and then against those, who are extending open threats in such a desparate manner. Hussain should have been sent behind bars at the time of his first offence instead of awarding him. Had it been done, he would have thought twice before portraining another goddess in such an objectionable manner. But the politicians get benefit from such instances. They want such incidents to happen, so that the communal devided increases between the communities and they get vote and support of a particular set of persons. Innocent people are being fooled by these painters/cartoonists and fatwa makers in league with some clever politicians. Let us see who is benefitted this time.
(1)Indian penal code is equipped with adquate provisions to deal with , who are involved in hurting religious sentiments of any community, and there is no justification to issue public calls to eliminate such people.
(2) Hindus should not take leads from fanatical muslim cleric.Private vegnenance may be permitted and allowed in Islam, but we should remember that India is not an Islamic state. we are a civilised nation, governed by "Rule of Law" and power to punish the guilty rests with State.
(3)There is another lesson from this controversy that any issue concerning hindus exclusively is not a matter of concern for present political class. No one came ahead condemning MF Hussein for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus, but only after muslims extended support to this issue, political class could dare to consider the matter, first time.Otherwise always a plea of "Freedom of speech and expression" was taken to defend hussain.
(4) This second class citizens' treatment to hindus is matter of deep concern and if this trend continued, we are bound to suffer from its repurcussions.
