I agree with author's views. No one has right to hurt to sentiments of another religion. Similarly no one has right to destroy other's property when the issue is totally unrelated. Now the 'seculiar' parties are becoming more and more 'seculiar' by supporting the cartoon protesters. They would become less and less 'seculiar' if they raise their voice against the humiliation and insult of their own gods & godesses by the westerners.
The Hindus did not resort to voilence because their religion did not preach them to insult others or convert others or kill others in the name of God.
I quite agree with the writer. Why damage and destroy the property in India and Indian states for the act of a third country? Whose loss is it? Will those who have vandalized the property pay for the rebuilding/reconstruction? Correct advice for the protesters would be that they should do something which would make the authorities in the third country take this issue seriously and take action against the cartoonist like legal action, diplomatic action, pressure from the Arab world on Danish authorities, pressure on European community to advise Danish authorities for corrective action. As the author said, images of Hindu Gods have been used loosely but Hindus were sensible enough not to resort to actions as is done by the protesters. This is sheer madness. The protesters should have some concern for the nation and not just religious sentiments.
It was a nice article and I was surprised to see it from the pen of Saisuresh. Atlast, he seems to be seeing some virtues with the hindu way of protest and also its effectiveness. Afterall, only the hindu way of life could have produced a Gandhi.
Why dont you write more often like this, Mr.Saisuresh?
The views of Sri Sai Suresh is absolutly right. It is our politicians are giving unncessory importance to the communities to secure the vote. We have to look to the national interest and nobody is above the constitution. Those who are INDIANS, should be abide to the indian Laws.Religion should not bring into this subject.
Saudi Arabia strted the prtest on Cartton issue. Inmy View they don't have any right to do so as they are not allowing any other religion to perfor in their land. They use to tore Gita, Bible or any books or symbols related to other religions.Keeping a big stick at thier eyes, they are trying to remove the dust from other eyes... It is KAIYUG...and all this shoud happen.
