Nice Article.
by Shudh on Feb 22, 2006 11:45 AM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

The timing of your article could not have been more juxtaposed. The day when I heard all the so called news channels blaring about some Hajj Minister's war cry of awarding a sum 51 crores and gold et al., my head went down in shame.
And he is even on records saying Indian Govt and CM of UP supports his claims.Duh!
This is the high time to act before a bunch of pirates hold the nation at ransom.

Regards

cartoon controversy?
by Arif on Feb 22, 2006 11:40 AM  Permalink

I dont agree with the writer totally, though he is trying to bring in some sense to a group at large, irrespective of their religion, we should undrestand that when we are in a democracy and part of a home to more than one religion and is certainly not necessary that if a single commmunity is targeted that others will rise to defend but that attitude you kick him I dont bother unless it hurt's me is no answer. Tolerance and silence is not the solution to the west's attitude of direspect to our god's this is our inablility and the attitude of the people who think similarly has in some way encouraged the west to continue this practice.
We talk about Fundementalism and fundamentalists in Indian religions but not to forgot that our so called fundamentalist never showcased disrespect to gods of others, just imagine the unrest in western media if our so called fundamentalists did the same to the Christian gods!!! Forget the media even the govt would have cried at this.
While I agree that protest's resulting in loss to our property is subject to penal action I dont agree that a simple sorry we are hurt message to west will work, we as a Democracy need to tell them we will not tolerate this any more.
Mr.Writer I shall not tell that you are a closet Hindu fundamentalist, someone who is entirely bereft of feelings of any community, on the contrary you belong to that class which shared the same opinion when Nazi's were targeting communities based on their religion and one group just kept silent because they did not belong to it until they became the target themselves.

Cartoon
by Lucky on Feb 22, 2006 11:27 AM  Permalink

hi
Never include politics wit religion, In politics one minister gets respected at one time and the next time he is gone. But in religion every one should respect they religion, If u hate a religion hate in ur heart, why those people want to show the world by issuing such things, today one person has done that, if people all over the world ignore now then somebody wil again publish the samething, So to avoid those things in future this is the right step taken by indians and also all over the world.

What's Indian state's fault?
by vidya on Feb 22, 2006 11:27 AM  Permalink

Just spot on! Why can't we just carry on with our lives? I live in the middle east, I do not see any thing else other than banning Danish products! Give our folks freedom and they are all set to squander.

Rediff is always biased against muslim community..
by Muhammed Waseem on Feb 22, 2006 11:20 AM  Permalink

I had been observing rediff's comments on muslim community for long. It always turns out to be negative. Why cant journalism be just secular instead of criticising one community by just supporting what is right?. When taliban forces were about to demolish the buddha sculptures. Indian government was first to protest for that appealing against taliban. Though It happened in another country for which india has nothing to do. I agree those acts are not allowed in Islaam too. Just because of some ignorant groups it had happened. I would like to ask the writer whether he would have said the same words for then indians or indian governments that 'we regret that , cant we continue living normally?'. Its ridiculous that author maintains dual policy one for muslims and other for rest. By protesting in the street we muslims are demonstrating our discomfort or anger in this cartoon row. I believe in a democratic country like india it is legal. But the voilence which turned out was not planned. It happened instantaneously by some triggering factors locally. Mr. Author what have you to say for gujrat riots? where muslims were abused openly by street mobs. even the govt. was fueling the incident
