When will you guys stop blaming the Jews for all your problems? Have you ever thought, maybe, just maybe the problems may be something to do with the form of Islam you practice. There are only 10-15 million Jews in the world and over a 1.5 billion muslims. San
I totally agree with Swamy. Tolerance of hindu comunity is tested all the times. Not a singel politician or religious leader is worried how hindu God and goddess are picturised in the western world.
Your article indeed lacks theme and shows your lack of maturity. I am sure you are aware of fundamentalist Hindus who every now and then kill innocent Muslims - set aside small things like buses. And once they have done it, they link their evil acts to a Rath Yatra. So what was the Indian States fault? Why did we see loss of so many buses, buildings business etc? And what about MF Hussein's paintings and the vandalization of his art gallery by thousands of Hindu fundamentalist mobs? Again the Indian state had nothing to do!
How about when Hindu nationalists torched a PepsiCo warehouse and picketed US government offices in western India to protest the cancellation of a US visa for the elected head of Gujarat state?Again the state of India had nothing to do!
My advice to you is stop pointing fingers and realise the fact that Asians treat their religion more seriously than westerners. So, any insult to any Hindu deity (such as putting them on toilet rolls as in America for example) will always result in protests and as seen 'destruction' to national wealth. So, instead of writing such meaningless articles, write something more worthy of appreciation the next time.
The day politicians stop chasing votes based on religion, caste, etc. India will become a true secular state. Politicians have divided the country on the basis of caste and community for so many years.
The article is timely. The columnist has expressed the views of the majority of Indians on this issue. The protests against the cartoons in a Dansih daily reminds me of what happened in 1969 when Al Asqa mosque was burnt down in Israel. How much of property was destroyed at that time! How many people were killed! I hope the leaders concerned will do something to restrain the protesters from vandalising public property and killing innocent people.
I completely agree with the writeup. This is not about being hindu or muslim or christian.
Some person in some country has expressed what he thought, in the form of a cartoon. And it was published, just as so many things are published everyday..in wry humour. That does not in any way shame the prophet and nor do the images of Hindu Gods on beer bottles shame the hindu religion. What it shames is the mentality of the person or people doing it..we have the right to laugh at the cartoonist & feel pity for his lowly thought. But thats about it. Why should humanity waste its time, energy and money over this?
The Indian state is at fault in that it allowed some idiots to damage property, inconvenience the innocent public, & get nothing out of it. By issuing fatwas, we are only conveying that we are so weak that we get hurt by idiots who know nothing of our religion!
Its time everyone just treat the offenders like a peice of furniture, ignore them, & move on with ur life. Our life is not so frivolous that it can get into a loop by some stupid ideas & thoughts of people who dont matter. The Indian government shud mature in its thinking & be firm about law & order in the state
