As far as the cartoon episode is concerned.. so Muslims all over the world is united and condemn this. Freedom of speech does not grant them to offend other's feeling so this kind of act cannot be ignored and should be condemned so that similar thing should not happen in future. However, Islam teaches tolerance and peace.. so condemnation should not be in the form of voilence.
Whats with everyone's sentiments being so fragile ? Does nobody have work, and if your belief so weak ? Contrarily, must you always demand that everyone else across the world ensure at all times that they do nothing which goes against your beliefs ? My belief is that everyone must be made the subject of satire once in a while, whether in good or bad taste, and watch it, you're stepping on my belief! Whatever. Even the IAF got into the act recently with RDB. I mean do your thing and get on with life. If someone else does theirs, and you don't like it, well - nobody's asking you to do it. If its legal, and does not harm anyone, why the fuss (esp in some other place - u did not even see it)? Deities on toilet seats and chappals would be more lousy design than offensive - and on T-Shirts - hey thats not bad at all. But its one Hindu's take against those who've decided they can speak to me. Meanwhile, I'll pray for a saner, less suspicious world.
It was really good to read an artical like this.Such type of action give rise to Hindu fundementalism.Why does the muslim religion feel so insecure? i still fail to understand that. In a country like india where our president is a muslim our prime minister is a sikh........our past criket captan was muslim and bollywood suparstars are all muslims.It is a land where id is celebrated as diwali.Still the muslim feel they are indecured.
India is known all ver the world as a land of peace,yoga,meditation .holy..... and the list goes on.I myself have been to america twice and i was surprised to see how much they appreciate an indian. Indian saree.indian bindi.indian skin colour and indian as whole. That can never happen with a pakistani ,ar an lebanese women.
Few facts: 1) The cartoons were published in Sep 2005. 2) The ambassadors from islamic countries requested a meeting with the Danish PM to file their protest but refused 3) The Islamic community in Denmak requested a meeting with the authorites/newspaper but turned down 4) THe OIC's diplomatic efforts were spurned.
Just to mention a few uncivilized efforts to deal with "CIVILIZED & DEVELOPED" nations.
Immediately after the protests started the Danish PM/authorites was ready to meet everyone.
Have you heard about the recent David Irving case in UK? Can we have the freedom to have another opinion about Holocaust or history.

its at times like these that i wonder wether we as a nation will actually survive. there is much too much hate and suspicion. dont kid urself. the sentiments are all pervasive. it has permeated through every single layer of our society. our political class are only a reflection of us. and the reflections' scary.

Feroz, Religion is based on faith. And one's faith in anything is not a function of any third party's assessment of or comments on that. It should neither please nor displease you. Its *your* faith. Unfortunately, practised religion is more politics and identity-grouping than faith - and there starts the problem. You start giving and taking collective insult, and everyone loses. Its not about one's respect for God or whatever one beilieves in - including political theories or programming styles or whatever.
I dont understand what sai is trying to say. It seems that he has good knowledge of all the current affairs. He has mixed everything in one article. And regarding disrespect to gods or godesses,if you dont care about your gods we dont mind but it does not mean that we should also dont care. Its upto ones faith. And freedom of expression doesnt mean that i can publish anyones wife's or mother's nude pictures.
There are lot more questions to be asked, there were so many instances where in the Zionists and others have utilised Muslim community as the provokable machines in the history and it will happen again and again, it is difficult to control a muslim after provoking him, I do agree and appeal all my fellow brothers for the peaceful demonstration, thats what I can tell as of now.
