secularism gone wrong
by venkat on Feb 25, 2006 06:31 AM  Permalink

i think our politicians are unable get the real meaning of secularism. it is giving equal right to every member of the different communities while at the same time living in harmony. not sacrificing our rights to assuage others. probably, the politicians of this land are trying to show their seculrism by showing their laxity to a minority community. but this doesn't at all bring the much wanted harmony.

we trumpet ourselves to be a secular land but for this the leaders of the land need to learn what real secularism is. they have to introspect to find whether they are secular enough to implement the laws unbiased. as long as a law implementer remains communal in his mind, he tries to bring about secularism by showing bias towards opposing community. Any other action would only bring guilty feeling in his own mind and would naturally fear facing criticism of supporting his own communtiy by an as much insecular opposition leader.

we need a law implementer who is learned, who can think critically and who is strong enough to make decisions.

Dear Saisuresh,
If in the past I have "raked you over the coals" for you "bend backwards secularism"; I have to say sorry. Perhaps it is the AOL effect, but you have shown capacity to think deeply & articulate it.

All is forgiven. Now pleeze pleeze, can you let some of my remarks get published? I've noticed that over the past few months, none of my "reader responses" get published...

Anyway, keep up the good work!

What's Indian State's fault?
by ParthaSarathy.K on Feb 24, 2006 10:51 AM  Permalink

Kudos to Saisuresh Sivaswami. Excellent analysis on Indian congress politics under the shade of secularism. Its actually changing the very meaning of secularism ,giving impression that supporting muslims to the extent to lick its sheos is only secularism and also for vote sake it may lick but at the same time it is hurting the sentiments of Hindus who doesnot have unity to retard the congress attitude. I recall the article in this columns calling all the Hindu Gurus and Swamijis to make a sincere effort to unite Hindu community and retard any anti Hindu activities. God Save Hinduism. I invite the author of this article to send all these articles to all gurus and swamijis to make a sinsere efforts to the cause of the Hindu Unity. Thanks to Saisuresh.Partha..

Nice Article
by Kavitha on Feb 24, 2006 05:09 AM  Permalink

Politicians just want votes. They are responsible for all the communal riots in the country. And for the present UPA Government anything anti-hindu is secular and anything supporting hinduism is non-secular.

What's Indian State's Fault ?
by Chandu on Feb 23, 2006 05:11 AM  Permalink

A well written article. Another thing to mention is that these cartoons appeared first in Sep 2005. To start with, what's up with the delayed reaction ? and then like the author said What's Indian State's Fault ?

you forget-we are secular
by Vijaya Kumar on Feb 22, 2006 07:36 PM  Permalink

meaning-do not bother with halfmillion Hindus bacoming orpahns in Kashmir overnight or thier temple desecrated. If you react you are a fanatic. You are only secular if you react to minotiry sentiment. You are more secular if you neglect the Hindu loss and fight for justice of miniority. You are more open minded if you hurt Sankaracharyas or priests of the temple. That is what for we wanted Birish to leave India-remember.
