Visavis your contention re: eating of bird flue infected chicken, I would like to point out that at the individual level, one, in his wisdom, does not wait for conclusive research results to make him persist with or desist from savouring a favourite chicken dish. And mind you, research results and statistics can, after all, be published with so many ifs, buts, provisos, and limitations such as geographical representation, chicken strain, and the like; and there can be three types of the results: positively warning against eating because of a risk, however small or big, of grave danger to health from which there may be no return since cures, even if invented, may not be available to the infected unfortunate man, at all, or at the right time before it is too late.

Is it safe to eat chicken?

Don't follow anything blindly. I am not a very great fan of non-veg, but yet I would take into consideration what the facts are...
If you have read that the stain is present in India did you know from when... The answer is since the last 6 years... And do you know what other diseases we have in poultry...

By the way why didn't it surface till now...
Please take scientific facts into consideration before deciding upon anything..

Try to understand what they are and how they are effecting humans... You should look at it economically and most important with the health perspective...

Developed countries as they say... US has the stain of MAD COW since 1970s did tehy ever acknowledge it... And you believe them... Their poultry... How can you believe them without any official statement that they don't have the stain...

This is a global threat in my point of view and global measures are required to solve it...

Is it safe to eat chicken?

Hi All,
I wanted to mention that the fact is we are not seeing an outbreak of AVIAN FLU.
It was existing in India for 6 years now... The only difference is that now it has been declared officially...
Actually the way we process and cook our meat the strain has a 0% probability to survive and reach humans... Now that deaths have been reported probably we'll have to wait and see if the virus has really evolved to humans. Meanwhile as many of us have rightly stated you may prefer to stay away fro non-veg... I only pity the poor farmers

I think we should keep away ourselves from eating chicken by taking lessons from what has happened in the past history......prevention always better than cure !

No way. Bird flu, animal flu or FMD...:)
If I have to die and it is destined, there will be alternate methods whereby death will slink past all barriers and carry me away. So why care!!
Let bird flu, if it is me, take a shot at me.

Is it safe to eat chicken

At the moment I feel we should refrain from eating chicken as I believe that prevention is always better than cure. It is rather difficult because with the birdflu hitting the news in Mumbai the prices of mutton, beef and vegetables have gone up. Some may not be able to afford the rise in prices and be forced to eat chicken so I feel that the government must try and help out in keeping the prices of other commodities constant.
