If bush doesnt visit gandhi samadhi or if saudi king doesnt visit gandhi samadhi , it doesnt mean the mahatma is being insulted , if they dont visit it , are we loosing anything?
I personally consider George Bush visiting Gandhi's (mahatma or not) samadhi as a sacrilege to the great man . What does one expect from such a narrow minded, biggest war monger imbecile of our times. My personal advice to MEA and media would be not to force any such traditions on unworthy "dignitaries". That would save the grace and dignity.
The Mahatma has grown in exteem if Dubya does not visit His samadhi. For The Mahatma would not like the worlds worst terrorist - Dubya - to visit His samadhi. The Mahatma will always be an icon of Peace. Dhanda Pani, get a glass of water and some other Dhanda than writing.
Indeed it is a great insult to the man and the country which have stood the test of time. The current government is also depending on the powers that they are compromising some values that we have stood for. It is shame that the govt is quite negligent and blind for few benefits which are quite short term in nature. When the concerned people do not oppose such instances of disrespect shown, what is the gaurantee that they will take care of the territorial integrity of the country. It is not the only issue but the govt did not even react sharply when our national flag was hoisted in reverse in pakistan on the ocassion of 1st one day match of the current series being held in Pakistan.
Are they [govt]sleeping or ignoring the basic issues / respect that a country of this stature is being given.
writers should stop such blunt statements. Not paying homage cannot be taken as an "insult". writers should stop being so blatant. One cannot force / impose one practice to others, eg if suppose having non veg meal hosted by some country's patriarch is a custom, then if a vegetarian guest understandibly refuses, then how is the custom "insulted"?
Everybody knows George Bush's shortcomings as far as IQ is concerned.Besides,there is no attempt at a cultural or religious snide cos please note:Christians are free to bury OR cremate their dead.
I believe you are way off the mark here. It is about time we developed the maturity and self confidence to take such attitudes and comments in stride. Your reaction smacks of poor self esteem and an inferiority complex. Respect for the Mahatma should start at home. The Mahatma's principles and values need to be observed at home first before you go pointing fingers at foreigners.

How can you say someone insulted Mahatma Gandhi just because he/ she is not visiting their shrine. By that value most of India would have insulted Mahatma Gandhi.
If Mr Bush does not wish to go to the Mahatma's samadhi, thats his belief. And we should respect his belief as a secular nation. Thats what freedom is all about.
