Why rediff sets aside so much space to condemn someone's refusal to visit a cemetry is strange. If I do not revere someone, should I be hypocritical enough to act otherwise?
Faith and belief in religion is a matter of pure personal conviction. The religion [I rather call it ones faith and belief] is again a relative term because there are various degrees even within the same faith. Hence it is an un-necessary hue and cry on Mr. Bush visiting or omitting to visit the Mahatma's samadhi.
However, the Mahatma is and will continue to remain revered for each and every Indian and also any human whether his samadhi is visited or not.
Thank you for your patient reading of my feedback. Regards
Well, the Indian government must have some problems of their own and probably that is why they are tolerating such repeated insults from this cow boy,who is disliked by half of his own country men.Infact his credit rating has fallen to 30%,which happens to be the lowest ever for any president in the history of USA.He has time and again put a foot in his mouth by doing things which have become symbolic of his brazen attitude. He has forgotten about the traditions that the previous presidents were upholding, which were quite dear to the american people and their sentiments. As for being a christian ,I believe that he is\'nt even a believer of principles of that religion. He is as fundamentalist as the oragainisation(Hamas) his regime is deploring. He will be one president who has the capability of pushing the world back to the dark ages.Again it will be christianity vs the islam.I wish that his terms gets over fast and the American people get rid of him and get to salvage their remaining pride.
The Author is to emotional about not visiting Raj Ghat and equats it to insult to India. Yes should the Bush or Saudi king visit Raj Ghat? Mahatma is more to us (Indians) than to world. There is no need. If the faith doesnt all, why do you play with words.
More over, the article seems so stupid and not logical link between the title and the content and the flow.
We cannot ask everybody to give respect to Mahatma! it will be a shame for us as well as to our Mahatma! Giving respect to Mahatma really means to follow the path he has shown us! the path of peace! If everybody try and follow his path there wont be any trouble in the world! And moreover if we indians try and follow his path in our own country there wont be troubles, riots, fights etc., won't be there in our land!
Thanks to Vijay Dandapani who bring this news to our attention.
If this is true than it is really shame for the press, electronic media and political leaders who are not aware of the same.
Especailly the congress, BJP, the left parties, the press and electronic media who just ignored the news.
Now the govternment of inda should take firm stand and register their complaint with the ambassador of america. The president Mr. Bush should apologies for the statement which hurts the feelings of millions of hindu. If he not then the government of india should ask the president not to come to india.
The statement made by the president bush again shows what type of person he is.
Bush and the King's visits are business visits. They have a right to decide for themselves if they want to visit the Samaadhi or not. We can't impose a visit to the Samaadhi on our foreign guests. If they choose to visit and pay their respects, fine. It will be a gesture. If they choose not to do so, we cannot complain or take objection. Treating it as an insult to our country is not a mature reaction. I totally disagree with the views expressed by Vijay Dandapani. G Vishwanath
