So my question to you is why you are feeling so hurt about the hindu kids in California. Would you fight with same strength for the lower caste kids who are beaten in rural India if they ask for water. Did the communists create caste system? Why blame them everytime the caste system is highlighted. Blame game is played by all fanatics. Be it Hitler or Hindus. Isn't caste system is truth about Hinduism? Did not it inspire the Nazis? I definitely think you will hold a different view if you were a lower caste. But then who would like to resist or blame a system that put you on the top because of birth. Look deep inside you and you will find the bigotry and prejudice that you claim others have. My advice to you is that Hinduism is a bad relegion in its older format and its current format(the same old one) and hence if you feel ashamed you can change your relegion or start your own relegion.
It is very disappointing that no News channel and very few news papers took note of the incidents happening in California. Does the media also want to be so called "Secular"?
I liked your views not because it came from a Hindu mind but it came coherently and rationally. Hindus are slaves of their own brethern and often this specialized caste come out with their own concocted versions of 'secular' hinduism in the garbe of rational commentary. The main issues with Hindu as a faith lies in the fact that it is not comparable with other releigions which are highly systematized and carry a very rigid formal hierarchy of order. Amongst the Hindus, there are equal number of thinkers, philosophers, prophets,Popes and Caliphs! No one likes to be left out in the argument. Perhaps, for this very argumentative character only, Amartya came with his latest book title. We as Hindus are never taught to be a good listener and allowed to question every fact as a virtue to an unacceptable range. Keep up this kind of rational non sectarian ethos in your future writings. Fundamentalist religions,with very narrow understanding of the universe, instantly go on offensive and terrorise one and all to bow to their fanaticsm.Hence,all keep quiet and just allow the fanatics to have their way.
Hindus are more rational and thus more tolerant.It gives others freedom to criticise,rundown and show Hindus in bad light.However,Hindu tolerance is not bad in the long run.Hence,Hindus do not produce terrorists who destroy life and peace endlessly.
If ever you see a headline beginning with discrimination against hindus you know whos writing that article , that has to our good friend Rajeev Srinivasan. Why dont you write abt discrimination against dalits that has been goin on for centuries by their own fellow hindus. But by Rajeev thats ok, he might even say its a myth and that it was just a hoax made up by the commies, christians and muslims.

I remember reading Vivekananda saying that removing hinduism from India will not only not serve the people, its effects could be dangerous for the country and the world. Vivekananda also said about 100 years back that India is awakening and likened it to a tree after a harsh winter (young green leaves are sprouting, this time the tree will be even bigger and greener). What he perceived 100 years back we are witnessing now. Thnaks.

Reason? Ever since independence, hindu-hating,pseudo-secular Nehru and dynasty has put in place a tribe of pseudo-secular anti-hindus everywhere in academia, politics, media and what have you! The semitic religions as christianity and islam are the most exclusivist and intolerant faiths with their concept of gate pass to ehaven limited to their folks and with call for elimination by force of all the infidels or kafirs!
History of these religions and their leaders are drenched with blood of millions and millions of infidels and kafirs brutally eliminated by sword or other means! Still these semitic religions will swear by God that they are the most loving,tolerant and conmpassionate in this whole world!The indian and international media under control of these butcher religious faiths will not say or do any thing to contradict such blatant distortions and lies!
Poor hindus, they do not know how to protect themselves from these butchers since they are ill organized and naive to the core like the sacrificial lamb!What a pity!!!
Very good article. I normally skip through your articles. As most of them seem to a bit on the extreme. But in this article I share your thoughts. All other religious organizations in India also convert people by exhorting that the Hindu gods are daemons. I realized after sharing a room from one who has converted recently. I also has an relative who got converted and put the picture of his died father in a trash can saying that they do not believe in respecting died person as the died are equivalent to daemon. I think god can be reached in many ways and different religions have given different ways to reach god. If some one says that Hindu gods are not gods then the same goes with other gods too. As most of the religions were born in last 5000 years where as theory of evolution says that humans were started evolving from apes for more than 60,000 years. This has been dealt very balanced by Kenneth C Davis in "Don't know Much about Mythology".
I would be glad to see if you can write an article on reforming the Hinduism. I think castes are a bane for Hinduism. In Bhagavt Gita itself the lord says that a person cannot become a Brahmin by birth, but only by beliefs and practices.

By talking about Rajeev's Stanford background, you seem to be implying that if you are educated abroad, you should automatically develop a contempt for anything that is Hindu! It is this sense of shame that forms the pivot of Intelectualism that is stridently anti-majority.
Let me tell you what are the hardships inflicted on Brahmins in Tamil Nadu:
First and foremost, they were targeted as being responsible for all the social ills like untouchability. Analysing caste system from the time of its disintegration is being very unfair to it. It was a vibrant social order suitable to the social conditions prevailing at that time. Again, it did prescribe stingent punishment for Brahmins who swerved from the path of Dharma! It prescribed penury, pursuit of knowledge and austeriry to Brahmins. Holding them responsible for all that went wrong was a part of a carefully crafted conspiracy by the alien rulers, which was passed around as 'self-respect', social justice and such fancy sounding terms.
