time to end setting yourself on fire and hunger strike
by Numan on Dec 27, 2006 11:54 PM  Permalink

Comeon, what has this lady done for India? let her die voluntarily if that's what's gonna happen. Everytime there is an issue, either you see folks setting themselves on fire or go to hunger strike. It's time to end these non senses. I am not in anyway politically leaning towards Bengal govt, but I hope the bengal CM doesn't gave in to this lady! If you have issues, go and sit at a table and DISCUSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NDA to ask prez to intervene
by labrea on Dec 27, 2006 11:48 PM  Permalink

In this stinking land, politics is everything - the real issues take second place and sometime not at all, so long as the self-aggrandizing, self-centered corrupt netas get their publicity. And that's why this country is still so backward, divided and underdeveloped - netas spend all their time engaged in the destructive politics of chicanery, shenanigans, bickering and obfuscating and none on actual governance. Had Mamta been in power, things would have been no different, except it would have been CPI's Bhattacharjee protesting and agitating.

CPM is doing their best
by Subhro on Dec 27, 2006 04:51 PM  Permalink

It seems the article is a little out of track and was written with a lot of sympathy (which is the common man reaction) towards mamata banerjee. It seems everyone outside west bengal is worried about the issue and says the CPM govt has been a bit stiff. But I lend my full feldged support to the chief minister and the CPM party. They are doing their best to draw attention of industrialists towards bengal, which has been neglected for quite sometime. Mamata Banerjee is doing what she is good at -- making a lot of hype and trying to get fake publicity. We (people in west bengal) have seen all these dramas of Ms. Banerjee over the years, and she will oppose anything that CPM wants to do, whether its good or bad. So, people should get back to work, let not the honourable Prime Minister and President waste their valuable time pleading her to resolve the matter. They have better things to do. Leave Mamata Banerjee and her allies and let them do what they know best - to create problems.

I strongly believe that what is happeing is only for good of people in the long run. So lets be patient.
All the best to TATAs and CPM for their stand.

Will the fast bring her out of the political wilderness?
by VK on Dec 27, 2006 04:37 PM  Permalink

It's difficult to be sure whether Ms. Mamata is really serious about Singur farmers' livelihood or her own political career. After having been ignored more than once by the West Bengal electorate, may be she finds this one to be an opportunity of a life time to swing back to political stage. The issue is more of life or death of Ms. Mamata's career rather than those of farmers, she is trying to save.
