Dear sir,
Please accept profoundest congratulations of this lawyer from Jaipur.Chairs and constitutional posts have no religion, caste or creed and particularly our hon!ble Judges have gone always beyond these limits. The media of this country appears to be adversely and prejudicialy showing to profess as if one!s being dalit, has been a creteria for such elevation.Sir,they must recognise that it is your lordship!s unflinching acumen, labour, legal and judicial expertise, devotion and dedication, honestyful piecercing intellect in remaining strong and justice loving qualities of heart and mind that have earned right deserving position for you.May your term be most successful, and redicalise the system of Judiciary. With reverence

dalit cji
by james on Dec 22, 2006 08:40 PM  Permalink

it is a matter of grave concern if somebody has been appointed as the CJI simply on the basis of caste - I sincerely hope his being elevated as Judge at the High court level had nothing to do with his caste. It is now even past high time that our country makes merit and nothing else the basis of selection in anywhere. The basis of SC/ST/OBC/MBC/religion should be dispensed with altogether so as to promote a meritocracy instead of casteocracy, otherwise we will surely become a basket case like that of many African countries

Congratulations Justice Balakrishna.
by Ritika on Dec 22, 2006 08:30 PM  Permalink

Why underestimate a man's achievement by giving it a caste color. Whatever Justice Balakrishna is today it is becoz of his hard work and intteligence. i think the writer should write that we do not need reservations for stupids and lazies....we need have opportunities and proper funding for the under-previledged/poor.

Appointment of Chief Justice
by AJAY PATHAK on Dec 22, 2006 08:21 PM  Permalink

The heading was inconsiderate on your part.A learned person is a learned person and his caste, creed should not be really important.I am myself a practicing Lawyer and am glad to know about the appointment of such a distinguished Judge as the Chief Justice of India.I hope a time will come when Indians wont need to emphasise the appointment of persons from any caste, creed in terms of their caste and creed.

KGB, first Dalit Chief Justice of India
by Ashok Kamath on Dec 22, 2006 07:48 PM  Permalink

Very strongly oppose the use of caste to demerit the merits of hardworking person. Media with one stroke of pen is trying to take away the 38 years of hard work and determination.

Media please stop such type of articles. Why media did not mention the caste of other CJs - his predecessor? Please highlight his achievements then his caste. Even after 59 years of independence, the evil of social and religious discrimination still exits.

Media wake up - your responsibility is to make the fabrics of society stronger, not to make it loose to disintegrate and break into pieces.
