Congrats to Balakrishnan our new CJI
by Abhishek Khandelwal on Dec 23, 2006 04:25 AM  Permalink

I am really upset with the line which is saying he is dalit. He is a dalit so it's not a shameful thing. why we don't say he is a indian who has achieved this success by his ability. He deserve it.

Don't use caste words.

Retards!
by truthwhines on Dec 23, 2006 04:06 AM  Permalink

"Balakrishnan completed his graduation in science, overcoming caste hurdles inherent in Kerala society back then" - Everyone who appears to have a problem with the spotlight on CJ's caste do not know what it was back then to be a dalit in Kerala or anywhere in India for that matter. First learn the past then comment on the present. I will not be surprised when some retard would say - the justice system sucks because CJ got that position because of reservation.

Congratulations
by Prasanna Ballal on Dec 23, 2006 02:50 AM  Permalink

When will the discrimination based on religion and caste stop? Today, when people argue that India is among the top nations technologcally and economically, such headlines make no sense. A person should be cited based on his efforts and achievements, not by his/her religion or caste.

Balakrishnan born in very poor family, because of his hardwork and dedication he achived it. I hope he did not received this post based on his caste. He got this post lately because he was born from dalith community. This is Higer level indian adminstration. This is the reason why, still indian top most positions are not filled by daliths, eventhogh they are fit more than the others.

Balakrishnan
by Devarajan on Dec 23, 2006 01:51 AM  Permalink

I pity our system. People take pride in calling themselves a dalit. Government supports as well. Government can help for job. But people should not misuse it. Anyone having a job is not a dalit. His social/economical status far better than most of the people in the society. It is a farce to call Mr. Balakrishnan and his family a dalit.

Hats off Sir !!
by Jagesh Somkuwar on Dec 23, 2006 01:14 AM  Permalink

Hats off to those who make India proud. Like the father of the Constitution of India Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Hon\\\'ble Chief Justice of India Mr. K G Balakrishnan has made us proud by becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Despite his poor and most marginalised family background Mr. Balakrishnan did not fall pray to the odds and proved that no one can stop you in reaching the heights if you are determined and firm on your strenghts and capabilities. Unfortunately, Indian media once again is busy in highlighting the \\\'caste\\\' of most capable, outstanding and patriotic personalities of the nation who are born in the poor and disadvantaged group. The writer is helplessly trying to give unnecessary weightage to the \\\'caste\\\' instead of his excellent service to the nation as an Indian. Why can\\\'t they call Atal Bihari Vajpeyee as so and so th Brahmin Prime Minister of India?

Supreme Court
by valentino on Dec 23, 2006 12:52 AM  Permalink

Congratulation to the new Supreme Court Chief Justice bcause he is a great person and an honest judge not because he comes from a particular caste. It is wrong to discriminate and divide people according to sects, religions or castes. I remember the fuss about the previous President when he went to France and one local newspaper wrote something like what I'm reading today...

by anshul on Dec 23, 2006 12:28 AM  Permalink

Please stop creating new with these titles. All the focus shifts on him
being Dalit. Why this tag is there.. So as this appointment gains some
sensation. MEDIA can play a better role by not doing so. Milllons of
reader make their opinion by reading this news. So please stop making
"DAILT" as news . Rather than cast some highlights as how he came to
achieve to this...

Stop portraying government ...be wise ..
