First Dalit Chief Justice of India
by Sunil V Mudrabettu on Dec 22, 2006 06:02 PM  Permalink

It is glad to hear that Shri K G Balakrishnan will be the new Chief Justice of India.

"We should see such person not only by the caste to which he belongs to but by the talent and experience he has".

"I have proud that the person with courage and determination will be in the highest position of judiciary".

Several of his rulings have had far reaching effects on society. It was he who pronounced the controversial judgment asking the Election Commission to debar the political parties, which impose hartals on the public.

"The forcible strikes by political parties have a very bad effect on common people. You can see how patients, passengers and children suffer during strikes," Justice Balakrishnan said in his ruling.

A news of great Proud
by Dinesh on Dec 22, 2006 06:01 PM  Permalink

Congratulations Dear Sir!!!

Your achievement is of immense pleasure to the Entire Dalit Community as well as people of India. You are the shining star. Dalits are too much capable, but others dont give us opportunity to show our strength and they always create obstacles in our path of progress.

Justice Balakrishnan,the new CJI
by Jacob D.Titus on Dec 22, 2006 05:54 PM  Permalink

Mr.Balakrishnan is a distinguished Judge who has been elevated to the highest judicial appointment in India, the Chief Justice of India. It is on his merit that he has come to this high post. Why do you journalists and newspapers want to bring in his caste? When the world is moving forward, why do you want to pull back our country by perpetuating this caste system?

DALLIT !
by Chetan Doshi on Dec 22, 2006 05:38 PM  Permalink

what do you mean by a dalit, he is an Indian and that all. It not only the Politician but also the media who had divided India on caste system basis. Infact we must work toward empowering our society on Socio-economic basis. The poorer should have first share and so on..and not on basis of caste as our religion and also our constitution teach us to treat and accept everybody as equal.

I would rather like to read this as a man from humble background has achived this post through his sheer ditermination and hard work.

I congrulate him from bottom of my heart.

Thanks.

Chief Justice
by Jagdish Prasad Holani on Dec 22, 2006 05:27 PM  Permalink

First of all convey my congratulations to Justice Balakrishnan who will be the next CJI of the country.

But it is unfortunate that news is published as a rise of a Dalit. Why it is necessary to write news in such a way which is humiliating the hard work done by him and sacrifice made by his family initialy.

Even Dr. Ambedkar rose to that level just by hard work during the era when there was no resrvations.

Many upper caste persons has reached to the great heights in the society by their hard work. So only important is the rise of a person from a humble background irrespective of their cast and creed.
