Sabrina - the sister everyone would wish for!
by NS on Dec 21, 2006 04:34 AM  Permalink

Sabrina showed character in asking for a life sentence and not capital
punishment. It shows her grit to fight for justice and at the same time
her appreciation of the life that God has given us and which no one
has the right to take away. It would be worthwhile that the media
gives her more coverage than glorifying the rich and colorful lives of
these men who cause nothing but trouble. Sabrina you have shown
the courage that very few men have and you deserved what you got.
Congratulations and we will all pray for Jessica's soul!!

Do you know what life imprisonment means?
by Sharath Shivashankar on Dec 21, 2006 12:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In India, a person given life imprisonment should serve a minimum of 14 years in prison after which he is eligible for parole if he/she has shown good behavior in prison.

Assuming Manu Sharma is 35 years old, he could be a free man when he turns 49. I wonder if Jessica Lal's family is aware of this.

MANU SHARMA : THE END
by Amarjit on Dec 21, 2006 12:01 AM  Permalink

This is the victory of common man which is rare these days in india. I strongly feel that if Judiciary and media do their duty honestly, the society can come off the clutches of these so called powerful people. But certaily we need more such examples!!!

Justice at last
by Dipak on Dec 20, 2006 09:49 PM  Permalink

In the words of the court Manu is a lifer & not on death-row because he
can REFORM, but reform is not in his Father's dictionary neither in the
ways of the Police Officials, who sabotaged the legal process from the
start....I feel a tough punishment should be given to his Father & the
Police Officials.....Death is the only way these people will
learn.....Politiacians & Brats of Politicians please note you can't get away.

Sentences & Fines
by Chan on Dec 20, 2006 09:46 PM  Permalink

The fines imposed by our laws are a joke. Which world are we living in. Can we not link the cost of living to the fines. When govt salaries are linked to cost of living by Dearness allowance, why can't the fines..? How stupid can we be? We should have really punitive fines...that deter & not encourage...Why can't our govt increase the fines..by simply linking all fines to the cost of living. Do we still live in the days of the Raj?

So much of time ! A real shame
by piyush verma on Dec 20, 2006 09:07 PM  Permalink

Everybody knew this since the Day the innocent, beautiful, poor girl was killed. Why do we not have a system which would have punished Manu long back !
Should we treat this case as a start of a new era.
Let no bigshots and powerfull people interfere.
May justice prevail.
