all said and done but fact remains that those who fought and laid their lives for Motherland, must be cursing themselves,up in heaven,on seeing these politicians looting this country. They must be asking themselves if it was worth dying to keep these **** in power, who kill someone's daughter or rape a woman,at the drop of a hat. No,if you were to ask me,no,I won't like anyone to die for these people, who ultimately own the country
India has won the 1971 war & other but Pakisthan has won over India in the mind game all the times at all International venues in politicising Kashmir and other issues. We should field win Aginst Pak in that also.
We see war in bad light.always think of it in the negative..something that takes life, destroys property, drains finances and leads to moral losses...just one side of the coin!Such a linear view!Deliberately not trying to see war from different perspectives...i sincerely believe in the adage actions speak louder than words...it was proved right in 1971 and as all natural laws go,it will b proved right in the years to come...war is action, and maybe the only cure to terrorism yet..our message to terrorists has to b hard...just condemning their activity will just bring a smile to their faces...their roots have to be shaken.I must request the Indian Govt to heed the alarm n wake to reality..get inspired and get to work....we Indians are ready to back you..use the arsenal before they rot!DECLARE WAR!!!
i have gone through all your features on 1971 war.
your articles are good. It is not adequet with the seer size of our nation and our disisive win over pakistan. We are a great county and more and more grassroot level illustration with storyline on the subject should be found out and featured.
I cannot tell if we were right or wrong in "starting" a war...but one thing I am sure is, it will help us in having a Prime Minister like Ms. Indira Gandhi. She showed courage durins such conditions. Sorry to say but present leaders do not have an iota of what she displayed!!
Our brave Soldiers have laid down their lives for the freedom of Bangladesh, but today Bangladeshi people and some of the political parties of Bagladesh are supporting Pakistan, ISI and other militants group to spread terror in our country. so, the martyrdom of our soldiers have become meaningless. Also bloody politicians of our country do not work properly in this direction. The North-East part of India is becoming another Jammu & Kashmir because of Bangladesh. So, according to me it is not advisable for us to keep a soft corner towards Bangladesh ans We must take some hard steps not only for our own means but also for our great and unforgotable martyrs.

Ok Dude, What year were you born in? Jacob's remarkable treatise on the 1971 war and the historic "Surrender" was published very much while General Aurora was alive. Infact, the book, Surrender At Daaca: The Birth of a Nation by General Jacob was published in 1997 and Aurora passed away in 2006. Meanwhile, there were 9 reprints and Aurora did not have the heart to contest any content of Jacob's famous book, during either of these 9 reprints and during his lifetime. The book was presented to General Aurora on more than one occassion by various top commanders of the army, and yet Aurora didn't have the courage of conviction to contest it. And for your information, upon reading General Jacob's book, US President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush sent a personal note appreciation to the war hero- General Jacob in 2006. The Present British Army Chief, Richard Dannat has this year analysed the winning military strategies, that have been elucidated in "Surrender at Dacca by Jacob" after reading it. Also, only last week, the historic account has been added to the prestigious House of Lord's library in London. Now let's hear about your dubious side of the story! Get Real Buster!

And yes, Armchaired Critics like you better shut up on issues like this. The entire top brass of the Indian media and anybody who's done a thorough research on this topic who really got the surrender from Niazi?? Who else, but General Jacob... Ok don't take my word on it..read General Niazi's own account, where he's written that "Jacob forced me to sign the surrender." Sourav Roy Senior Journalist, New Delhi

Sumeet, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Everything that General Jacob said here has already been written in his book, Surrender at Dacca, which was first published in 1997. General Aurora was very much alive then. Did he challenge the book? No. Yet we have people like you, who don't even have a clue about what this is all about, casting such strange accusations about a war hero. what a shame.
Form this article it just seems that Mr Jacob is trying to take credit for the surrender. Since Mr. Aurora is now no longer alive, he feels no one can refute his claim, and he can take all cerdit. Strange case of professional jealosy.
No matter what the pakistanis or the rest of the world says, India is the greatest country. Its strength lies in its diversity and India will move on no matter what. Let the rest of the world have no doubts in India's ability and will. Its time, people who beleive in anti social activities and terrorism start working on developing their own countries instead of crying and whining about others. The terrorists are all a bunch of loosers with nothing good to do in their hands.
