Please Dont come back
by Karthikeyan on Dec 27, 2006 09:17 PM  Permalink

If you can say the following sentence

"I feel ashamed of being an Indian"

there is no point for a Indian to talk about your problems...

PLEASE DONT COME TO INDIA AGAIN

the day will come when you will be treated like a piece of crap there in US and then you will feel... hold on to your weepings till then. you will have to weep a lot on that day for what you have just said.

Inhuman attitude of Immigration
by Ratnakant Medhekar on Dec 27, 2006 11:07 AM  Permalink

it is sad to know that two children are deported so inhumanly from mumbai airport. we, indian common people, do not get any sympathy on such matters, these officials bend the rules as if they want (the same rule should have been applied to other nationals too).it is hidden FORIGN policy to repect others.... i strongly condemn this act of stupid officials, and request Shriwardhankar family take up this matter at highest level

Mumbai immigration deports kids.
by e. reddy on Dec 27, 2006 04:08 AM  Permalink

I feel for the parents and the kids. Again this story does not surprise me at all.I had been living overseas since the age of 17. I first started noticing how Indians (mal)treat other fellow Indians in Air India flights. Whites were attended to with a smile and courtesy. Indians were totally ignored. Those who were politely persistent (because they had to) were spoken to loudly rudely and disrespectfully.
I flew 3 times with Air India and it was the same every time. I never again flew Air India again. This is a very unfortunate trait we Indian have. We are nice, kind to each other and respect each other among closed doors. In public we rarely help each other. We are ignorant and suspicious. That is why in my opinion we are respected. As a young Doctor when I arrived in the UK fifteen years ago, one of the advice I was given was: never work for an Indian consultant. I did not follow that and learned the hard way that I should have. A British Consultant (boss) would not deny you your RIGHTS for study leave, paid courses and holidays etc. An Indian consultant would flatly say no and would never give a good reference at the End. What is really disturbing about the case is that the CHILDREN did have visa but not on them. They were deported.
Air France lets a French national board the flight WITH OUT ANY VISA. Just try to board an Air France or any flight to west with out a visa with an India passport! What more the French gets 2 day transit visa.
Transit to where? We Indians should respect each other only then we can expect such respect from other nationals

Duty First
by Kiran on Dec 27, 2006 12:52 AM  Permalink

While I have nothing against the kids(they are totally out of the picture), the parents are to be blamed who are just passing the buck for the mistake they have committed. Will USA take care of Indians if the same story happened? Nobody will raise this topic and say its the law and rules and bla bla bla.
These people, who leave their country, go to US, be like slaves in US, obeying every damn law without questioning, licking them and saying themselves as americans after getting their green card, and bad mouth India...if they dont want to be india, get out..but dont blabber saying u r ashamed of being Indian..You already sold your soul they day, u landed in US to lick them. You have become dhobhi ka kutta..na ghar ka..na ghat ka..
What officials did was their duty...read the rules..u need to be deported in the same flight.
It makes me feel sad that Indians blame the country for every damn mistake they commit. No one talks ill of their country as we Indians do. Its totally the blame of the parents who paid for their mistake.
In all this, Its the poor kids who had to suffer.

Mistake is a mistake
by Karthikeyan on Dec 27, 2006 12:25 AM  Permalink

When these people have done a great mistake I dont think they have a right to speak about our officials act of not giving a visa. just think how these poeple would have prepared the document for getting a visa to USA or the documents they would a have checked a 100 times before starting their travel to USA. does these people mean that we can be taken for granted. i have seen a couple being rejected a visa in US consulate who were supposed to travel to drop their grandson and stay with them for quite a time. the only reply from the officer is that there are places where these childs can be taken care of and its the duty of the parents to travel with the minor. why no one cries against these people. its a fact that we think we are low grade people as we have brown skin. please try to be perfect in the things you do. dont blame others for your mistake. there is no such thing as a small or big mistakes. mistake is a mistake.

by Deshbir on Dec 27, 2006 12:17 AM  Permalink

I can understand what you have been through...all these useless babus in airport have their own mood and ideas seeing brown and white skin.they are all ( paise ke puttar) and should be sacked right away. Airport terminal is the gatway to india where you bang with almost people from every corner of this world so why govt appoint these useless officals,I think staffs at airport should be more exposed to international behivaur.

Fight for your own rights!!!!!
by Santosh on Dec 26, 2006 11:10 PM  Permalink

'I know no one can reimburse for the suffering and torture we went through. I would be highly obliged if action is taken in this matter.'

Mr & Mrs. Shriwardhankar, fight for your own rights, everybody will give you suggestions but you have to take your own decision. If at all you feel that Big WHY?? for not allowing you & your family and allowing that the French national for a transit Visa of two days, try to fight and ask atleast for your hard earned Money which you must have spend throughout the journey.

India is a great country, don't hate our own land because of some people. Teach your children too, not to forget important things. Your bad experience is going to be a lesson for other travellers to India.

Good Luck to you & God Bless you.

IndianVisa for your children
by laxmi on Dec 26, 2006 11:01 PM  Permalink

Try to look for the real cause of this issue. Two irresponsible parents, who should take the blame for this. How could you be so forgetful that you miss the papers for both of your children? Try being more reponsible next time so you do not put your family through this type of situations. I feel very sorry for the children.

what's the norm.
by s m manickam on Dec 26, 2006 09:55 PM  Permalink

the couple are at fault. forgetting visas, is it a simple mistake. why they didn't realise somewhere on the way, and asked their friends in boston to keep it ready to be faxed upon their arrival here. its purely a matter of 'chalta hai', attitude which cannot be tolerated. it's not a matter of individual immigration official. its a matter of diplomatic norms between the 2 countries. will an indian be able to get away with such a thing in a us airport. as for the french man we need to check the diplomatic norms between france and india.
at the same time, if a similar thing happened to a high handed politician or a minister, things would have been different. ha! ha! ha!.

Respect our own race
by imaad on Dec 26, 2006 09:04 PM  Permalink

This is really unfortunate what has happened. I know rules are to be abided and there is no exception to this but if people have made mistake they should be given a opporunity to rectify the same.

I feel ashamed when i see Indians doing this to Indians. I have been to nations and I see how good the officials behave to their nationals as compared to other immigrants. But in India we do the opposite we treat white people with respect and humiliate our own people....GUYS GROW UP LEAVE THE SLAVES MENTALITY ITS BEEN 59 YEARS SINCE our INDEPENDENCE.....every time this shameful acts occur I feel that do we Indians have any dignity r we making our conutry and people proud by humiliating them in our own country in front of people from other nations.....will that white person seeing this ever beleive us when we say WE R PROUD TO BE INDIANS.

I thinks because of attitude of some sick people like this we were enslaved by white people. This should be stop for sure.
