Can't believe this happened in India!
by Anand Sundaram on Dec 20, 2006 01:42 PM  Permalink

Cannot still believe this happened and the plight of the parents that had to go through this. Also, the innocent children who were too young to understand the turmoil that they were put under. I live in US and I have a 3 year old son. It really breaks my heart to think that another 3 year old was put through this . I don't know who the officiers were angry at to make such a harsh decision.

Sheer arrogance
by Ram on Dec 20, 2006 01:42 PM  Permalink

I too have no pity for the couple since in all likelyhood the couple should have thought that we have greencards, why even bother to carry visas for our kids. The fact that the authorities did not verify their kids' visas is no excuse but in fact, they could have realised at least then that they have forgotten to carry the passports and should have proceeded back home to get the passports. I know of many instances where parents had to leave the kids behind at the departing airport itself since they either forgot the passport or they realised that the passport had expired only then. When officials follow the rule very strictly and the decision against your favour, the decision is critisised whereas when the rules are bent, then again it is critisised. Officials should be let what the rule says. Just because we are penalised, we cannot start complaining that officials should bend the rules for us. Its a very very bad attitude.

Just I cant beleive it that this has happened in India. Most cruel and worst inhuman treatment from any angle.

Mere money, technology and inhuman behaviour have become rulers of the day.where are we going.I can not call this the land of Gandhi.I am really filled with anger after reading such ill treatment with fellow human beings.

Let some mercy and love rule our hearts.

my worthy friend, feel sorry for the unfortunate kids in india who cant afford even a first class train journey, not for some offspring of a guy who wants to leave his country for greener pastures, doing the 'it' drudgery.

Its very bad
by Abhilash on Dec 20, 2006 01:37 PM  Permalink

Its very bad. These immigration people just know how to take bribes but knew nothing about the laws or humanity. If Mr Vijay was a terrorist or having a criminal case then it might be justified but for the family returning home from a foreign land after so many years,it might have been a major shock seeing indian immigration officials behaving with them like this. Please forward the complaint to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Tourism so that they will never treat anyone like this in future.People beware this might happen to you in future.Iam very sorry for the Indian family.

I agree that it was extremely tough on the family, the customs should have atleast given them 24 hours to get the papers faxed.
