I am also a father of a 4 year old child. I was shocked to read this. In fact I am trembling with anger.
The official's name should be disclosed. He is not only inhuman but insane. It seems that this guy is ashamed of his job and a pervert.
If the concerned officials are educated enough to read this then read this : THAT CHARACTER(REFERRED AS OFFICIAL, DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED.... ATLEAST PULLED UP SEVERELY.)
Simple stupidity and gross negligence by parents! How does one travel without proper documents?Having seen Indian passports being scrutinised from cover to cover before being stamped reluctantly by Mumbai Immigration while foreigners walk through in seconds,it is obvious that we Indians are treated like second-class citizens by our own fellow countrymen.I have seen same attitude at Railway bookings -whites given priority & Indians being almost assaulted by Indians there! In any other country the citizens are given preferential treatment.Never in India. We are more foreign than foreigners in India. Even sensitive information is given out gladly just to spend time with whites! However, immigration personnel at Mumbai seeing that the parents are Indians could have issued transit visas to the kids long enough to check their status. We Indians discriminate so much between ourselves that it is disgusting.True, laws ARE laws,so we should deport ALL visaless travellers, inc.foreigners irrespective of nationality, colour or status. This should teach us a lesson. All immigration(customs) personnel, anyone working with the public should stop harassing, abusing power, learn to treat us with respect.
Why so much hoopla about this incident. The authorities did what they were supposed to do. Keep in mind, that these children were carrying US passports. While I feel sorry for those kids for having to endure trauma in the back to back 24 hr journeys, I would blame the parents for being lackdaisical in carrying the appropriate documents. Why is this any different from the innumberable instances of visas or entry at immigration counters for Indians in the US for want of sufficient documentation? So lets get real guys!!!
Yes, we all agree that rules are rules...but thats why immigration officers have discretionary powers to judge the case and accordingly apply the rules. Yes, this family goofed...but they are (husband and wife) Indians...and these two kids were not a security risk being at the airport, even if they are Americans.
Not only did the immigration officers not apply their discretion, they also acted hostile to their fellow Indians (husband and wife).
1. Why were they not given more time to get their documents faxed? What was the hurry to deport them in 45 minutes...when there was no security risk for them to be at the airport? 2. Why was the french national given a transit visa...and these two minors who have Indian parents refused the same? 3. Why were these Indians not allowed to speak to someone senior when the person present was taking such an extreme stand? Should Indians on their own soil be treated in such a high handed manner?
Millions of illegal Bangladeshi and others are in India...and they walk in every day...and they are a major security risk - we still don't do diddly do about it.
But we have to apply the law to the letter, without any thought just for this family.
He either could have called the TV channels ( after giving them money) or paid the custom officials. For Indians only money matters. rest go to hell, otherwise why should we tolerate criminals in our goverment and media, instance Sighu doing the rounds of a well known NEWS CHANNEL! KALYUGA I guess !
This issue has to be blamed first on the family which forgot the passport first, second the airlines that issued a boarding pass for the family at Boston, and finally the Indian immigration officials.
First, Though any human can make mistake, no one will make this sort of mistake when they are travelling long distances, coming to india on long vacation after long time.
Second airlines issuing boarding pass should check whether the passengers are going with valid documents. Similar happened for me when i boarded flight from new york to dubai. but the airlines told i cant go as i didnt have a valid visa. As emirates gives a on arrival visa at dubai airport i was allowed to board the flight, for which i have to pay to emirates.
Finally, indian immigration officials should be blamed. these officials should have atleast given the time the family had requested, which would have been a nice on the part of the immigration officials. if the fax was not received then the family should have been sent on the next air france flight the next day and made the family to stay in the airport till they board the flight.
It clearly shows how much a person in such a responsible post treat kids of an Indian Citizen. Wheh the family commits to get th epapers faxed, whey there should be a time frame??
I strogly feel that the same decision would not have been taken had there been another official.
Request you to treat people the people with human values.
Indian have always been and are still being discriminated against in their own country!! How many more year do we need to get out of our colonial mentality and start respecting our own people!!!
