I think immigration officials did their duty. Its the job of citizens to know the laws. Same thing happens to many indians who go abroad. However I do feel bad for the familyand hope everything settels down
Imigration has done right thing . If you are not carrying your passport/visa or the required docs its your fault & not Immigration officers we cant take verything for granted , the same person when he travels to US from India he will ensure all the documents 1000 times because US Immigration is strict where as when he travels to India he thinks that if he is having US Passport everyone will allow him. This should not be taken as torture or humiliation this should be lesson for everyone that we should have proper documents when we travel to any country
When you travel to India with kids, it is the last place where people show some courtesy and kindness. Airport authorities and immigration are at one end. They are no specific lines at any airports for people traveling with kids. You stand in long lines with them after traveling 20 - 22 hrs. No "pre-boarding" rules apply to any flights going to India, because "all the people have kids and family"(but mostly at home).
I recently traveled with my 3 1/2 yr old and 6 month old baby. The treatment at Indian airports were horrible. We were not allowed to take strollers through London hence we had even more problems standing in lines. After this trip I realized that India still has not improved itself as a tourist destination. When we landed at Dubai airport, we could see the difference. They have special consideration for people traveling with kids, no standing in line at immigration. It gives a welcoming feeling and leaves good memories of that place. India still needs to improve and it should start from the people's attitude to treat others around them better.
I feel sorry for you and your kids. When India is projecting itself as a tourist destination, it cannot afford such acts of gross irresponsibility and that too to it\\\'s own people.
Really its shame on them, i heard many stories about mumbai officails and also iam one of the victim in the past. they harassed upto maximum extent especially poeple coming from west.
Our polictician\'s are making too many promises/ commitments for NRI\'s in the media or any other gathering but they are not amending.
Much ado about nothing! It is a common knowledge that Indians are secondary citizens in India. If the family were Bangladeshi muslims, they would have not only got entry without any papers but also received a stamped ration card on the spot!
I srtongly believe what mumbai officials did was correct. An error is an error. U cant blame others when u commited a mistake. The worst part of an NRI's r they feel that they can do and act anything when they live in powerful countries like US. Just that they dont feel the responsibilty.
I would rather say when u got enough money.. why not travel again by getting all the documents. Why crib and find fault with Indian when u r so proud abt ur self.. NRI's pls change ur attitude.
It's like "Ripley's Belive it or not" thing. Mumbai is one of the worst airport regarding the immigration. It surely needs to improve on the standards and operating procedures.
There was nothing wrong in what the immigration officials did. The skin issue is just added for flavor. That guy must have got qualified for the transit visa and he got it. In fact these guys should not be allowed to enter US too since they dont have any kind of identification. The entire tone/attitude of that article was awful. I see lots of such kind of Indians around in US.
The mumbai cops are absolutely right in deporting the children..they have gone by the book for once and shud be appreciated...as for the parents..wat do they think..simply because they can flash their green cards and US passports they can get entry into any counrty?? how can they be so careless and forget their children's visa?? And their lame excuse...cant understand how they have survived in the US...on top of it they r trying play the race card...for their info all these racial discrimination excuses simply work in US/UK..not in India..infact its totally illogical to complain abt racial discrimination in india!!

Hi Venkat
You may be right by saying the immigration officials did right to deport the children &...but how about the notorious gangster Dawood's wife frequently travels to India from Karachi via Dubai almost once in every 3 or 4 months when Dawood's entire family are wanted in India for the crime they committed..how come immigration official close their eyes...that is because MONEY speaks...before Dawood's wife lands in Mumbai...every ground work is made as who the custom's and immigration officials will be there on that shift & huge money is already paid to them including to the level of ministers... what you have to say on this...I AM SPEAKING FROM FACTS because once during flight from Dubai to Mumbai I did see Dawood's wife (whom I recognized from her photos as wanted in various papers) on that flight. After the flight landed in Mumbai, was curious as how she gets out of the airport. After she came out of the aircraft couple some plain clothe personnel received her.She handed her passport to them & walked quitely walked out of the customs & immigration. The plain clothes personnel directly went to immigration counter and got her passport stamped & handed to her.
vijay, the only fault i can see on the airport authorities's behaviour is not giving enough time to receive the fax! But,in your forgetfulness lies irresponsibleness!YOU and your wife are to be blamed for your children's plight.Realise that and then cry about others.
