The President OF India must sack them immediately
by INDRANEEL CHANDRA on Dec 20, 2006 08:42 PM  Permalink

Time has come for the citizens of India to demand dismissal of such public servants who do not understand the spirit of law and behave like robots. They are incapable of discharging their services to the the nation.

Bottom line is that some of us dont respect ourselves and I have noticed even in Indian restaurents as well as in work places in US. I have seen so many indian restuarents where white guy gets prefered treatment.

One sided story
by Saurav on Dec 20, 2006 08:41 PM  Permalink

It is seems to be a strange incident happened at Mumbai airport, but if Mumbai immigration officials have done some thing wrong (I personally cant see any thing wrong) the family cant blame them because the fault at their part was unforgivable. I would like to ask the family do you think after staying a long time over USA, if the same thing would happen here you would get a better behavior from USA officials, after staying at USA for couple of years I dont thing so. Before telling shame to Indian officials, Indian system etc. friends remember you are reading something which is from one side of the incident and could be biased version of the whole incident.

Guys!!

I really feel sorry for what happened to the kids, but this is what US govt advises to it's own citizens while visiting India.

The behavior of immigration official was sad, but seems to be within rules..

Sorry to hear that.....

Thanks for sharing your story....my sympathies are with you.I really think the officials at the airports, the international ones in particular need to be taught a lesson or two in etiquette. What is the point in promoting brand India as a travel/business destination if the two important showcases and the first exposures to "India"..... Air India and our airports are so unwelcoming? These people really need to be taken to task.

Sorry NRIS

Dear Vijay and Vaishali (or is it Veejay and Sally?) Try forgettting your green card or your son's passport and encounter an American visa officer. Maybe he will show you more sympathy than these vile Indians who your son "can't understand." Sympathies for your lost cause.

Mumbai Air port officials will let in only Terrorists and not innocent kids, I share the agony your family has suffered, I wish a safe return to the kids.

Nothing new.....

When you travel to India with kids, its is the last place where people show some courtesy and kindness. Airport authorities and immigration are at one end. They are no specific lines at any airports for people traveling with kids. You stand in long lines with them after traveling 20 - 22 hrs. No "pre-boarding" rules apply to any flights going to India, because "all the people have kids and family"(but mostly at home).

I recently traveled with my 3 1/2 yr old and 6 month old baby. The treatment at Indian airports were horrible. We were not allowed to take strollers through London hence we had even more problems standing in lines. After this trip I realized that India still has not improved itself as a tourist destination. When we landed at Dubai airport, we could see the difference. They have special consideration for people traveling with kids, no standing in line at immigration. It gives a welcoming feeling and you leave the place with good memories. We forgot some travel document but still they gave a trasit visa without any problems. India still needs to improve and it should start from the people's attitude to others around them better.

Mumbai. Worst place to land in India
by PV Rao on Dec 20, 2006 08:33 PM  Permalink

They have the most corrupt immigration people, they have the most corrupt customs people and the worst part is after you finish with these two you have to deal with those porters, who run away with your bag and will return only if you pay them in dollars! Mumbai is the most Gooda place controlled by the underworld dawood and his gang...I will bet you they would have allowed the kids if the parents had paid them in dollars...so my advise to the parents next time fly directly to Pune..forget Mumbai...
