Don't Disrespect India or othe indians
by Akhilesh on Dec 21, 2006 12:25 AM  Permalink

Forgot the visa and want to enter a country with yelling , sorry not going to happen.I would have done the same thing as officer.I would have told you to step aside and if you insisted or yelled I would have given you to the security and charged you with misconduct at the airport. India is not a SeaWorld it's Democratic Nation. Imagine if they let you enter today then I am not going to carry any visa papers in my next trip and no one will.We all hate immigration procedures but need to follow it. I think you disrespected India in front of other Indians and foreigner. Please please please don't do this again.

Balance

Its very unfortunate that the kids have been deported. Please imagine the same situation of forgetting to present our documents at American Immigration Check point. They obviously deport us back, so the same is the process Indian officers did.

Official did the Right Job
by sreeni on Dec 21, 2006 12:21 AM  Permalink

Though the agony of the parents and the suffering the kids had undergone is understood and very much highlighted, how such an important and basic travel documents such as Passport & Visa are missed out is very strange.

The officials were very much right that they wouldn't allow any body without the required documents as stipulated by the procedure. Being the responsible citizens they should regard and respect the law of the land, rather than cribbing at the official. If an European traveller was allowed a transit visa, I guess, it was on different grounds. Because he was a tourister he needs only few days to be in India and it would also affect his travel plan otherwise

It was good lesson for the parents (also for others) not to make such silly mistakes in future

Under the table
by Vidya on Dec 21, 2006 12:17 AM  Permalink

I guess the official was expecting some under the table money/bribe which he not get or was not offered. So, he deported the kids.

It\'s a shame
by jambvan on Dec 21, 2006 12:17 AM  Permalink

I strongly belive that parents should not forget their kid's visa but I see many people in this forum like Mr.Dominic enjoying suffering of Vijay and Vaishali and that's very wrong.

What if I have my 6 month baby with me and I lost my PIO card while travelling..(Mr. dominic, I also keep copies on my laptop so don't need any suggestions from you) from this incident it looks like immigration officer are going to send her back. they are not going to give me some time to get copies faxed, or at least think about what to do? now, that's ridiculous and what's hurting is that we know it's not something new and we can't do anything about that.

Hi,

I am just wondering, How can the parents started travelling with out having Indians VISA for their sons whose are American Citizens. No country allows to other Nationals into their country with out having valid visas.
