In these times of rampant Terrorism, the Airport officials are already under a lot of pressure during checks of incoming people. The Mumbai Airport officials played by the rules. No sympathy necessary for illegal entrants.
This dude has left the papers of non-Indian citizens (his children) at home and is taking them to enter India. What else does he expect? Ask him to forget his green card papers in India and then try to enter the US. He'll be jailed and interrogated in deepest part of the Department of Homeland Security!!
How can we tolerate such inhuman and discrimninate bahaviour by the officials?
First, they should have been a little more humane and considered the plight of kids who had travelled 24 hrs already. I fail to understand what was the need to make them travel back again. They family is genuine and they genuinely attempted to get the visas faxed.
In any case, if they declined visas to our very own Indians, I wish to ask the officials as to under which rules they allowed a two day transit visa to the frenchman.
It is high time we come out the sick mentality of traeting foreigners better than our own country men. I travel in so many parts of the world and can share with all that and no other country probably treats the foreigners with such soft gloves as we do when comapred to their own country men.
I appeal to all to come forward and raise this issue with the highest possible authorities, so that such a treatment is not meeted out any more to any more Indians.
My heart cries out for the kids and the family. I just hope that they take it in their stride and do not develop a sick feeling towards their own country.

Mumbai immigration is manned by LIB branch of Mumbai Police. In all States Police the officers under cloud facing departmental actions are transferred and posted in LIB brach. Whar treatment you can expect from them. The US citizens should call US consul general for help. They always help the US citizens in distress.
Talking abt transit visa. Will the Government of USA give transit visa? NO... If the official allowed you. you would have told that they were not following rules and if they do you say they are in-human.. They deserved it
Instead of just arguing over irrelevant issues like green card, etc, first find out if India has a rule of granting temporary visa on arrival to any foreign citizens, if they do not possess one on arrival.
If India does have the rule, then why was it not followed in this case?
If India does not have the rule, why was the Frenchman given a temporary visa?
All those who are applauding Indian Immigration officers have one reason; that is their action is no different than US officials for someone entering US without valid papers. Are US officials your role models? Dont you think they missed a chance to show that they could be better? Acting different than US counterpart they could have upheld our old values! . Im sure those little kids didnt look anything like terrorists to them to take up such an extreme measure. Their presence in our country for few more hours would not have jeopardized security of our country!
Its absolutely ridiculous and inhuman behaviour by the immigration officials.There are hundreds of other illegal immigrants staying in India but the govt. of India is not bothered about them.Its is nothing but the show of power for a wrong cause.
Why is this such a big deal? Having one's passport/visa on a foreign trip is plain common sense!! There is nothing wrong about deporting individuals without visas/passports. The immigration authorities were just following the rules, and the same would have happened in the US or any other first world country..
