* All people of India shall be guaranteed and secured social, economic and political justice; equality of status and opportunities before law; and fundamental freedoms - of talk, expression, belief, faith, worship, vocation, association and action - subject to law and public morality;
*The minorities, backward and tribal areas, depressed and other backward classes, shall be provided adequate safeguards.
Articles 14 - 18 talk about Right to Equality. Article 14 of the constitution guarantees that all citizens shall be equally protected by the laws of the country. It means that the State cannot discriminate against a citizen on the basis of caste, creed, colour, sex, religion or place of birth.
The forward caste is discrimated and are subjected to total discrimination. The constitution talks about safeguards, not bringing up one caste by oppressing another.
Arjun singh and his cronies should be changing all this too.... My support goes all out for the protesting doctors. It is so sad that i have been ostracized from my mother land, what did i do? But i still continue to pay my taxes and be a good citizen (For what ?).
It is a matter of shame that these doctors take to the streets against measures to mitigate the social sufferings of their co-relegionists for several millenia.Surely Hindus must be the most unempathetic (towards their fellow Hindus)lot in the world today.
India is highly credited in the western world as a storehouse of brain power. If we let non-deserving candidates into technical courses just because they come under the reserved category, whether medical or IIT or IAS, we will dilute our excellent prowess in these fields. We will no more be a force to be reckoned with. If the backward classes study hard and can pass the entrance on 'merit' and MERIT alone, then they do deserve a break and one can be provided in the form of govt aided financial loan. Why dont our power hungry, vote hungry, politicians think on those lines! Instead they want to dilute the high standards of the institutions? How crazy is that?
Indefinite strike is not going to have much effect. Political problems needs to be solved politically. People who are against this policy needs to have a forum/party , and be a part of the decision making process through legislation or judiciary or whatever using the available chaneels. Its more effective to campaign for not voting for the people who passed this bill and vote for their rival candidate whoever they maybe in any election that comes up.
I can understand a need for reservation for the candidates belong to SC/ST category because they have suffered a lot right through the beginning of this so called hindu civilization. I just could not understand why now government wants to give more reservation to these OBCs people. Can't they just work hard to come forward and compete with other people or otherwise just stay with their profession like Sunar (jeweller Makers) Carpenters (ofcourse they are earning a good money now a days)etc. I am also bit worried about the selection of these general category doctors in India too because I am living in Australia and so far oversees trained doctors who have been charged with negligence and crime are only those who belong to General Category e.g. doctor death (Dr. Patel invovled in the death of 80 killings here in Australia); Dr. Suman Sood (found guily for illegal abortion and charged with manslaughter), Also one more Indian trained doctor who belongs to top most upper cast in India was chaged with assault and attempt to rape in Melbourne last year. I think government needs to be bit hard with the selection process of these General Category Candidates too. thanks Jatinder Sharma
The way our politicians are behaving is just utterly shameful. Simply dividing the country on stupid grounds and putting merit on back seat... These people dont deserve the positions they are in... They deserve nothing better that jails.. for ruining the careers of so many people.
