AGAINST DEAL
by Srinivasa HV on Dec 10, 2006 01:29 PM  Permalink

Hai,

I equivocally agree with and support Indian Scientific community rather than political community. I also seriously doubt american hidden agenda behind the deal. They never help anyone unless there is huge stockings inreturn for them. I with no hesitation reject and protest the actions of present Indian Govt. Also I call for the same from scientific, Technical, and Students community.

Thanks.

Nuclear Weapons are ornaments in India's cupboard
by INDRANEEL CHANDRA on Dec 10, 2006 05:08 AM  Permalink

In to-day's world almost any country can design and develop nuclear weapons ...the technology is not a big deal as was the case in the 60s and 70s. In my opinion a few nuclear weapons from across the world should be left in the hands of the UN security council and the rest dismantled. No sensible man or country can ever think of actually using one and therefore it serves as no practicle use except as a deterrent - for which a few R&D centres/ nuclear heads are good enough ! What is of practicle purpose however, is is the use of this modern technology to manage our poverty and health standards and therefore we must look at it in the context of progressing to a better , civilized world.

Indo-US n Deal
by Dr Brian on Dec 09, 2006 10:38 PM  Permalink

The critics are there to print their name but any
sensable person will accept that nothing better could have happened. Will the critics place themself on the
side of USA and make a decision.India even this day ask its own countrymen to assure, confirm, bond, and what not if you ask for any grant, aproval or anything.
We are so diabolic that when it comes to other country
we expect red carpet without asking for anything. If our scientists are so sure and the Govt.have the money
then why are we so far in power generation. Our stand
looks like we eant to have the cake and eat it.This
one single act by Dr Manmohan Singh will create Indias
power strength much better than what we could have
expected. When are we going to congratulate someone for
doing a good work.Sad.We can understand CPM becouse they sneze in the name of USA and think mof STAR in the name of China but why BJP-unfortunate.

Nuclear Agreement
by Dr. M. C. Gupta on Dec 09, 2006 09:52 PM  Permalink

It is strange to find important persons in Scientific & political fields are critical about the Nuclear Agreement which was passed by US Senate yesterday. These gentlemen are trying to find points to criticize PM for this great Bill. It is historic for many reasons - an Agreement such as this could be signed favouring India who has not signed NPT yet. India which does not have cheap coal (bad quality), no cheap source of oil - nuclear power is the only alternative for augmenting power supply which has been short since independence. Hopefully GOI will amend Nuclear Act which will enable Private sector to go for nuclear power. In years to come India can have sufficient power to meet her industrial, agricultural, domestic & other requirements of power which will help rapid industialization of this country. France produces 80% power from nuclear plant as they donot have cheap coal or oil similar to our situation.
Our prominent Nuclear scientist would rather have few dozens more Atom Bomb rather than sufficient power to cater for total requirements of India. Our PM is a shrewed economist & knows well what is good for this country & is not cowed down by old Atomic Scientists.

'No Reason To Celebrate yet'
by S.Ramaswamy on Dec 09, 2006 09:21 PM  Permalink

Without taking the considered opinions of experts outside the Establishmentin to considration,it is certainly an unwise step to agree to the proposal as approved by both houses of USA. The voice the elected houses of the USA have does not seem to exist for our Loksabha and the Rajya Sabha. The Govt will be ill advised to go ahead with the deal in its form with out taking on board the voices of dissent
