What we did in 1972 could be treated as tit for tat for what Pak did to us in 1948 with kasmir. We helped a downtrodden state to be independent. In 1948 Pak in the name of freeing kabuli's and kashmiris helped those against us. So it is tit for tat. U hurt us we hurt u bac. Only thing is we have not left the claim over kashmir but poor chap pak has completely lost its' right wing.
I am of the view that they are not the right people for such a great help and sacrifices by India. I remeber a saying that if you want to donate something, select the right person who derves more!.
They are a headache for India for decades. Illegal immigration, encouraging anti-india sentiments, voting against India in almost all International forums, platform for ISI operations from the Eastern side, trying to occupy Indian lands near the border. We have not yet forgotten how they have killed and carried a BSF jawan some time back?!. They are the main reasons for many of the 'juggi chopdi' in major metros in India, and politicians, barring the BJP, exploit such illegal immigrants to corner votes, by extending them favours like ration cards, free water, free electricity, delaying their exit through procedural hurdles, getting them reservations, etc. Through these they are really fooling around the Indian public all these years!.

Mr. Srinivasan is 100% correct. They really do not deserve it. There is a saying " When the iron is hot the Mrs. & Mr. Blacksmith pair are one at their aim, no difference at all" . Now you can see former West Pakisthan and East Pakisthan i.e. present Pakisthan and Bangladesh - they are one - making head-ache for india pushing through militants of pakisthani origin to our motherland creating all these nighmare for their once well wishers - poor indians... There is no second opinion.. It was a Himalayan Blunder we have done... Jai Hind ... Unnikrishnan

Because the smaller nations are afraid of us and envious of us, while China is pro-pakistan for historic political reasons (at that time to counter India's leanings towards Soviet Union) .... But on Indian side, we had some naive foreign ministers and vested interests in our foreign civil servants, and antagonised our neighbours through sheer stupidity ....
Reflecting at the results post the creation of Bangladesh one can with hindsight conclude that we should NOT have got into the matter at all. The East bengalis have benefitted from India's help then and benevolence (read weakness) in later years. We have created another thorn in our eastern side which continues to prick (read infuriate ) us . The demographics in the Eastern states and porus borders continue to wreak agony on the ORIGINAL residents. Assam and now Tripura are good examples where the successive years have forced people to take unitary action. India may have won a victory in that war (under the dubious leadership of the nehru scions ) but the future generations are paying a heavy price for that !
All in all it leaves us Indians with a very sour result.
indian politicians proved to be weak and played a dirty politics sacrifising their own country by safegaurding their own interests. Still its being in practice and the result will be another war with pakistan and loss to india and will see more partitions. This we will see for surely within 5-6 years from now.People of india were never understood whether it was in Roman era, mughals ,britishers or now. They can't be one /united .India as for now what we see will collapse and nothing could be saved .India can never be a super power but it will be divided into several small countries with loss of infinite number of people life's.THIS IS TRUTH.AND WE WILL SEE THIS HAPPENING IN COMING FUTURE.

The next generation will see the subcontinent (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) divided again and re-aligned based upon linguitic profiles. The subcontinent has never been politically one country in the past.
Invasion of East Pakistan or Bangladesh was the biggest blunder modern India made in its entire history. Now what we have are two enemy nations on each side of the border and two enemies to negotiate with instead of one before. The politicians were very short sighted at that time. The problem of the refugees from Bangladesh has not been resolved, the pretext to the war. The population of Bangladesh will double in the next two decades and India is going to be the only country to absorb the multitudes whether people like it or not. In the old scenario, West Pakistan would have had the legal and moral obligation to do so. The 1971 war has become a political as well as military defeat for India.
Yes.During that time it was OK.As a big brother we are not bothered to control the influx and illeagal immigrants from Bangladesh after the war.Nepal occupies our land.Bangladesh too.Kashmir is our headache. China is our major threat now.Srilankan Tamils are in Tamilnadu. Thankgod Vast our borders are covered by Sea.Otherwise we might had many more brothers as Indian nationals. Our policy makers are making money only and buying votes. They need only the vote banks and they are ready to import from neibhour lands. They may sell our land also for their survival.
